As noted elsewhere, Porsche recalled Panameras in China for the exact same problem. To add insult to injury, the engine light came on again after I left the dealer. I wrote Porsche in Atlanta, and received a polite letter apologizing for the problem. I sold the car (after paying for the repair), and do not plan on buying another Porsche, ever. Seems VW's problems are not confined to diesel engines, although Porsche refuses to acknowledge a problem with their V8 engines.
