1500 Laramie Hemi V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

I noticed here that there were a lot of radio/Uconnect issues that were fixed under warranty so I decided to add mine. In November 2014 while on a trip my GPS started doing some strange things, like showing me on a 2 lane when I was on a 4 lane, and telling me to make a u turn for no reason etc. Since it was still under warranty I took it into my Ram dealer and after a quick drive down the road and back the mechanic said nothing was wrong and that I needed a software update.

I asked wasn't it under warranty and the manager said no that wasn't. Well my truck is still under warranty so I was wanting to know, is the Uconnect radio/GPS update covered under 16000 miles under warranty or is it my fix?

2012 Dodge Ram 1500. We bought it brand new from in Northside Dodge in Lethbridge Alberta December 2011. We did not initially use the navigation system as we were driving in a known location for several months. We tried it once in Medicine Hat, where we live to see if it would find our Walmart. It could only find an old location of the Walmart. We thought it would need to be updated. When I was driving in Calgary Alberta because my husband was having surgery we found out that the GPS could occasionally show where a place was but would take a EXTREMELY long route to find the place sending us in the complete wrong direction. A trip that should have taken less than 10 minutes took 45 minutes. When we were on our way home (2 1/2 hours into our return home) the GPS came on and said "when safe to do so make a U turn". Yes...make a U turn 10 minutes from our house. We have taken our truck into 2 different dealerships and were told a "fix"would be out in April 2012. Still no fix and it is now September 2012. I have had an official complaint and have a file #. I have been told that it is not Dodge's problem and that I need to contact Navtec. This makes me furious that we bought a BRAND NEW vehicle that has NEVER worked properly and it is our problem. We have had to take a Dodge dealership to AMVEC before over selling us a "lease back vehicle that had 3000kms on it with undisclosed fixed body damage. The dealership bought back the vehicle eventually after the complaint.I am not past going further with this complaint.

Update from Oct 7, 2013: Chrysler would not warranty our GPS as they have a clause that they do not have to fix 3rd party parts in the comprehensive warranty. Northside Dodge helped us by trading our truck off on a different Ram 1500 as Chrysler would not help. After owning our new truck for about 7 months we found the paint on the rear bumper de- laminating. Chrysler AGAIN refused our claim twice before FINALLY repainting the bumper. We again traded our Ram 1500 off...we no longer own a Dodge product!!! It took Chrysler 52 days to admit it was their problem that our bumper and emblems were peeling...POOR customer service!! NEVER will we own a Dodge product again.
