Radio is frozen on the Ram insignia and none of the dials or push buttons work. Took to the dodge dealer and he had it for two days and then said the code said to replace the radio. He stated it was a default in the radio itself.

I have a 2013 RAM and am wondering if I'm the only owner with this problem (being as I haven't seen any other complaints). I purchased the truck two months ago and bought it because I also have a Chrysler 300 and I like the software system for the radio/GPS/Bluetooth/backup camera.

The problem with the RAM is whenever I mute the radio, the GPS and phone also mutes. I no longer have sounded directional guidance and I can not speak on my phone hands-free! I haven't taken it back to the dealer because I don't want to pay the diagnostic fee ($150) and was wondering if someone can recommend a fix.

Radio which has XM radio, FM/AM as usual, also has access to Bluetooth, phone, usb is not working at all!! The RAMS head and XM radio logo are on it and nothing works!! This happened before but it corrected itself; it has now been 3 weeks and after some research I found there are MANY complaints about the radio not working.

We bought this truck new and this is the ONLY ISSUE we are having. I haven't seen anything saying the dealers are willing to fix it or have any idea how to fix it besides running a diagnostic and charging $$$$ to do so which will probably tell me nada!!

It's not a safety issue so Chrysler is not issuing a recall but I have seen so many issues and complaints that with this I will no longer consider purchasing a Chrysler product and will research many vehicles to see if they carry this same type and if so I will not purchase it!!

This is ridiculous to have such an expensive accessory which I paid for but not necessarily wanted it but now its not working!! SOMETHING SHOULD BE AND NEEDS TO BE DONE vehicles had radios before there was air conditioning!!! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE I do not wish to purchase a replacement radio from Chrysler if the same things occurs...any suggestions or ideas to correct this would be greatly appreciated!

The first time I experienced problem with my radio and screen, I had my truck only 10 months. it wasnt that big of a deal. it continued to happen frequently. Glitching in and out. I never took it in. I just didnt have the time to drive 50 miles to the dealership, and worse, I couldnt be without my vehicle. It finally went completely out and cant control anything now. I soo fucken annoyed, dealership tells me that it would cost an additional $150 to run a diagnostic on my radio, and the advisor also said I'm just trying to save you money, I asked what do you mean? He said when techs check the radio, if it doesnt come on, they just say you need whole radio replaced. I asked how much will the orginal radio replacement cost? He says $2300. WTF!!!! That fucken radio was f*cking up before my truck was a year old.....

The passenger side door speaker and dash tweeter stopped working. The dealer wanted $150 to just do a diagnostic. Though I am not currently certified, I am experienced and mechanically inclined in automotive repair so I took it upon myself to do what I can to eliminate a few issues. There are 3 things that I am able to rule out as the problem.

1. There are no blown fuses blown.

2. The speakers are not blown.

3. There is no loss of power to the speaker.

I noticed that there is a black module of some kind that is under the dash against the fire wall that I believe have something to do with the head unit to the speakers. After tracing the wires I believe that there is a likely possibility that this is the issue. If this is not the issue then it most certainly may be an issue with the wiring somewhere.

If anyone else has had similar issues please let me know your experience. If you have a resolution to this problem, the information would be greatly appreciated.

Dodge proactively sent me a recall in the mail with an upgrade usb drive for my radio. I upgraded it and it all worked fine EXCEPT I now do not have right front speakers. The dealer started a case with Dodge…I have serious doubts it will ever get fixed. The Web is swarming with issues with these radios and it looks like all different issues and they never get fixed!

1500 Sport Crew Cab 5.7L V8 Hemi

Radio was dark when I started the truck up in the morning. No warning that there was an issue. Radio is important but this also is my backup camera and controls for tempature in the vehicle. One of the main reasons why I purchased the vehicle.

Took to dealer to get an assessment and they told me to bring it back as a new radio was ordered. Took it back on a Friday morning in hopes that the radio would be shipped. Called at 2 pm to find out no radio and dealer gave me a loaner vehicle. Found out Wednesday that the dealer could not give me a date when the radio would be in for replacement. Returned loaner and picked up truck. I have asked on several occasions what the cost will be without a response.

Worried that I am going to be stuck with a bill for something that may work for another year and a half then go dark. This is ridiculous that RAM and the third party manufacturer of the component can get this right. Should be a recall. It is a shame because the truck has been great outside of this major issue.

radio not working properly

Intermittently, my radio display won't update when the song changes or I change stations when using SIRIUS, and when I change stations to try to get it working, it will change but the display stays on the previous channel and the radio won't let me change back to the previous channel. It gave me what I think is an error code on the display (attached in the picture). I first noticed it last year, and took in to the dealer last November. They first tried to flash the radio, and ended up replacing it after the flash didn't resolve the problem. It continued to have the problem after the radio was replaced. I just dropped it off again this morning to see what they say about it this time.

I also talked to Chrysler about it, and was given a customer complaint number for it. Chrysler told me they had no record of anyone else having a similar issue, yet I see complaints on this site of the same problem on similar trucks. I don't know if there's any correlation, but I notice that certain functions on the dash display don't always work like they should. The cruise control will sometimes not show me the speed it's set at until I back out to the menu and choose the previous function again. There's something screwy going on with the electronics on these trucks.

Update from Feb 5, 2015: The service department has had my truck for four days now. Chrysler told them to replace the radio again, so three radios total now. They don't have a clue what's causing the problem.

Update from Feb 6, 2015: I picked the truck up yesterday, without a new radio. They hadn't called me with any updates, so I dropped by at lunchtime. The radio was expected in yesterday morning, but never arrived. When they called Chrysler to find out where it was, Chrysler stated that there was such a backorder for the radio that they couldn't provide a delivery date. They said that if I was lucky, I might see one around the end of March, but it could take until JULY! My warranty will expire before I get the new radio, and then it won't be covered when it fails again. I'm very disappointed and angry! I complained to Chrysler yesterday afternoon, and was told that a uconnect case manager would call me. I've received no calls from them, and they haven't responded to my voicemail messages.

The dealership hasn't been able to duplicate the problem with the radio either, but I was able to catch it on video yesterday afternoon and show it to them. I'd like to upload it here if possible, and am looking forward to showing it to Chrysler.

Their logistics problems with the radio, which should have resulted in a recall, are not my problem. I've told them I expect to get a new radio ASAP, even if it means having to upgrade what's in the truck to something they have available.

I'm sick of the dealer's mechanics telling me they could not get the radio or other problems to repeat. The problems happen randomly. You can't make them happen, DUH. The radio changes from xm to am by itself. No certain time, day, week. You would think maybe they could reprogram it. Bettenhaussen Dodge had my truck from Thursday evening to Tuesday evening. I had a list of 10 things on it. You know what got done? A free wash.

I bought this truck new at the start of September. After about a month of driving, I started noticing problem one. Transmission. Shortly after that, the windshield sprung a leak. That required a dealer visit. But what has happened recently takes the cake. Friday, the back up camera stopped working. The screen turned different colors and flashed vertical lines when the truck was in reverse. I wasn't too concerned, figured it could be fixed at my next oil change appointment. Saturday, the radio started acting up. Turning on and off on its own. Random and frequent. Because this started after business hours, I figured I'd let the dealership know about it on Monday. Sunday morning, with the radio still turning on and off, the truck itself turned off at 110 km/h on the highway, then turned back on. After restarting, the wipers were on full, fan was on full, and every dash light was lit up. I pulled over, turned the truck off, and that was it. Dead. No power to the key switch. It's at the dealer now, but being Holliday season, might not get looked at for a few days

Update from Jan 5, 2014: Loose wire connection near the brake pedal was all it was. Dealership said it wasn't connected right from factory.
