Junk, Junk Junk. Irresponsible manufacturer You would think as loyal as USA customers have been to Dodge that they would have recalled this junk. But it affects almost 1 million trucks so they would rather roll the dice and pay per accident or death. How cheap and irresponsible is that!

Shame on you Dodge. I am NOT ever buying another Dodge again...and I have owned 3!

Steering death failure.....Shame on you! I pray your business falls on its rear!

God will repay you Executive director creeps!

Like others, my electric power steering started going out at slow speeds or at a turn. It would happen maybe once a week but that was 6 months ago, now it is every time I drive it and I checked my vin to see if this was covered under a warranty and nope!

I have checked and it is $1200 to get a new steering rack and pinion so I guess that is the route I am forced to go.

1500 Bighorn 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Power steering is intermittent works fine for awhile then quits. Going down the road start into a turn and it quits. This problem makes it very hard to keep the turn smooth and keep the truck on the road. Called the dealership to see if my truck was under the recall and it was not. I think the recall needs to be re-evaluated because this is obviously a known problem.

1500 SLT 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

Steering totally locked up. Can only move forward or backward in a predetermined path. Chrysler says not covered by a recall or warranty. Luckily it occurred as my wife was parking on the drive way. Dealer says they can not move it to do any other recall work. Repair estimate is close to $2200. This appears to be the same part that was under the s19 recall just installed before the recall date. Customer service is in the tuff luck mood. Luckily failure happened at low speed in home drive way

Update from Sep 30, 2018: $2500 later it is now working, never again will I have an all electric steering system. I had to pay a $250 "core" charge for a "Brand New" unit. What a crock of male bovine fecal material. Fca and Ntsb know this problem exist just not enough bodies to satisfy them.

Recently (May 16 2018) while driving my 2015 Ram 1500 truck, the (electric) power steering felt stiff (35 mph, 50- 75 degree range, ambient temp) while driving to work. Left work later that day worked ok. The problems happens after 20 miles driven and is intermittent, but getting worse and more frequent. I bought the truck used with 20,000 miles on it in July 1017 and it was very clean, just of Chrysler lease, the instruction book and other info was still in factory cellophane. I have put 10,000 miles on it and already have a problem. Does anyone know of a fix?

Update from Jul 25, 2021: Found out my steering universal joint was rusted and causing the steering to be stiff. Had it replaced and it works fine now.

At the dealership now, waiting for there conclusion of why it went out. Hoping they don't come back with the same old BS story we can't find anything wrong, just drive it and see if it happens again. Oh GOOD, I came within inches of hitting a concrete wall the first time it went out and now you would like to see if I could repeat that??
