I haven't gone to a dealer to complain about the problem yet. I was looking online for 2014 Promaster 1500 issues and came across this forum. Apparently there's more complaints about squeaky brakes than anything else so I wanted to join and add my problem. I've had my 2014 Promaster for 1 year now. It's a really nice one that was converted at Paul Sherry Dodge in Ohio. I live in California and the vehicle was transported by freight to Cali. I don't have the luxury of going to the dealer lot where it was purchased and complain. There's a Promaster dealer not to far from me but as I mentioned, I haven't made a complaint about it yet. We only use it to transport our disabled son who's in a wheelchair. We barely have 4,000 miles and the brakes have been squealing for almost half the time we've owned the vehicle. I too am embarrassed when stopping at a stop light or anywhere else. I'm certainly not thrilled to hear that Dodge will not fix the problem. We spent a good chunk of change on this van and having to put up with all the squeaking sucks. Oh!! did I mention all the damn brake dust. Come on Dodge, fix your sh*t!!!

Have 30,000 on my Promaster now. Was told by dealer that they would fix many times untill it hit 20,000, then they explained 'tuff luck, it's out of warranty'. Rotors shot, pads wore out, they say they can't get parts till it's out of warranty. Gave me estimate of $1500 just for parts. Dealer says I should have bought extended warranty. That's just the beginning. Computer full of glitches according to dealer. They keep deleting codes till it hits 36,000. Looking at buying a Freightliner.

Brand new RAM ProMaster Conversion Van costing over $50,000. Brakes started squeaking at 1,000 miles when coming to a stop and are getting worse and worse. Contacted the dealer and they stated "Chrysler is aware of the problem and there is nothing that can be done about it. I kid you not. That is what the dealer stated. And I'm not talking about a little squeak - this thing wails at every traffic stop-so much so that all the other vehicles at a red light look at me.

Took it in for service about this problem along with the five (yes that's right-five factory recall notices on other various things but that a story for another day).

Once again, the service write-up person stated that they are aware and there is "no fix" for squeaky brakes.

I invited the service man outside and asked him to listen at the red light. There were Hondas, Toyotas, Fords, GMs, and a host of other brands of cars and trucks stopping at the red light and none of them had squeaky breaks. I ask him how every other vehicle manufacturer can build vehicles with out squeaky brakes yet Chrysler/Fiat cannot? I did not get an answer.

I spoke with my salesperson that sold me the vehicle and he indicated he knows of at least three other vehicles just like mine that have exactly the same problem.

The service manager pulled up some sort of Chrysler technical bulletin (I think it was called a STAR report), and the bulletin stated: "Do not replace the brake pads or rotors as this will not solve the problem", and went on to say that there was no fix at this time.

Now let me get this straight. The Promaster has been in production for over a year now and they are still selling them (and not mentioning the bad brake thing before you buy it BTW), and still no fix for squeaky brakes? For Gawd sakes, I'm not trying to send a rocket to Mars, just trying to stop my vehicle at a red light without notifying the world that I am at the intersection.

Chrysler obviously cares nothing about their customers or the possibility that anyone would ever buy another Fiat/Chrysler product. My next step is to either notify our local NBC television station and/or paint lemons all over the vehicle and park it right in front of the busiest Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat dealer I can find.

Spoke with dealership and several people at Chrysler. I really had to persist....no one seemed to have a complete answer. They acknowledge the problem and said they are looking for a fix but that most of their vehicles have this problem since the feds have changed legislation which prohibits the use of asbestos in the brake pads. I have been told that the result is that the current brake pads have too much metal in them. (Wouldn't you think that someone would have given vehicles a test run with the newly designed brake pads? Duh.) Seems that it should be an easy fix but since I was told that it is a problem on so many of their vehicles I'm guessing that they are reluctant to deal with the issue since it will be very expensive to change the brake pads on the number of vehicles that they indicated would be affected.

I really had to push and be determined because I kept going down blind alleys and I can't even confirm that what I have been told is true but I don't think I'm going to get anything more right now. Seems to me that new brake pads would be such a simple fix....Just do it! Grrrrr!!!!

On Aug 22, 2014 I purchased a 2014 Promaster 1500 van, to use in my HVAC business from Performance Dodge in Columbus , Ohio. It had 893 miles on it when I picked up. It now has approx. 6000 miles on it. Since I picked it up I have taken it back 4 times. The brakes have a loud piercing noise at every stop. Not good for a new vehicle. 1st time dealer said it needed pads but had none in stock. 2nd time replaced pads. 3rd time dealer said it needed rotors, but had none in stock. 4th time replaced rotors. I called dealer after rotors were replaced and was told Dodge was working on a solution, they would call when one was available. However, I bought a new vehicle thinking I would not have problems. Every time I return to dealer it costs me 4 hours of work time. I realize Dodge has a lot of time to find a repair, but I do not. I need this problem fixed, it is very annoying and embarrassing. On the up side, Customers can hear me coming 2 blocks away when I apply the brakes, they can have the door open. Also I do not know how many other problems may come from these problems as more miles are put on van.
