air bag light on

After three days of rain, airbag system is leaking from rainwater. Dash indicates 'service airbags.' Are they functional? Don't know. Can't go to the dealership every time it rains. That's unrealistic - even for a car deemed a lemon.

Update from Aug 30, 2017: It wasn't the sunroof leaking. On the panel where the sunroof is inset, is two small holes to the front of the car. SMALL holes. Pinholes. They are connected to hoses and elbows that's SUPPOSED to drain through the firewall and outside the car. But they get clogged with debris and then the water runs free in the car frame, causing the issues. If you catch it early? Clear those holes. Problem solved. If it's like mine was (clean the what? where?) and they've never been cleaned? It means taking off the dash, the A-frame covers, cleaning lines, make sure you clear the elbows (or it will do it again). Lots of plastic clips to break, be careful. Everything doesn't quite line up the way you want when you're done, but it's labor. Not a ton of parts. Stupid system and the dealerships or shops should know about this instead of saying it's a sunroof leak. Anyway, catch it early and the water doesn't drain directly into the circuit panel. Keep charging your battery every time it rains and you'll blow the diodes in your alternator like I did and have to replace it. Elbows, in-dash, for a drain line are a ridiculous design and that should be under recall for a better system that doesn't involve owner involvement for routine maintenance.

Just one more report of a failed Passenger front airbag in his family of vehicles.

My Saturn began this issue with occasional failures where the light would come on the dashboard along with a message in the message center to repair the airbag. Now, it is pretty much always in the failed state. On rare occasions the light will go away but according to the indicator on the dashboard, the airbag is still off even if the seat is occupied.

I want to know (if GM refuses to fix this gratis) what others have done to repair it themselves vs. taking it into a shop.

I do not have the heated front seats or the electric seat adjustments, so it is fairly easy to remove the seat from the car. What can I do to fix it?? Also, is it the wiring? The Sensor?? Something else???
