Whenever I'm driving on the interstate at 70-80 miles per hour, the engine stops accelerating for no reason. With vehicles and semi trucks coming up on me, it is a great safety factor for my life, especially if I'm in the middle lane. I shouldn't have to constantly drive in the left or right lanes only all the time and be in fear of my life when driving. When is Subaru going to do something about this?

I have seen plenty of complaints about this same issue. Is it going to take a fatality for them to do a recall??? I have seen a "recall for ECM software 2017-2019 Impreza (2nd recall) and 2018 & 2019 Crosstrek Crossovers. the vehicle may stall while driving with increases the risk of a crash Subaru will update the software for vehicles with this problem & replace the ignition coil if necessary. owners may also receive a new front exhaust pipe if needed" I don't know if this has anything that is relevant to my issue, but they have to start searching for a solution to the very bad issue with the 2016 Subaru Forrester!!!

"2015-2016 WRX vehicles manufactured 4/10/15-10/21/15& Forester 2.0XT after 4/10-10/20. Turbocharger intake duct may crack and possibly result in an engine stall"

Subaru, fix this problem before someone creates a multi vehicle accident and several people are injured or die!!!

This is complaint #2 and still not a person can solve this issue that several Subaru owners are complaining about. While traveling on the interstate doing 70-80 miles per hour, the car stops accelerating, even with your foot to the floor. You're in big trouble if you are in the middle lane and a semi tractor tailor, or any vehicle for that matter, is coming upon you, and trying to navigate to get the vehicle and myself to the safety of the shoulder of the road while basically almost coming to a stop in the middle of an interstate.

I'm becoming so afraid to drive this vehicle anymore!!! I have reported this to Subaru and to the dealership many times and nothing has been done to even investigate this issue. It's frustrating to think I can't get help in this matter and it could possibly cause severe accidents and injuries and possibly death to many people including myself. Is that what its going to take to get a recall for this issue???

Forester Pzev 2.5i

About 5 hrs into drive home from Canada the gas pedal became unresponsive. We were traveling about 70-75 mph when the pedal went dead. Radio, air, lights and engine were all on but the car was decelerating quickly with no throttle response. I managed to pull over to the side of the road safely and put the car into park. I noticed that there were no warning lights flashing on the dash and the car was still running. After sitting for about 1 minute I put the car into drive and stepped on the gas and merged into traffic with no more issues. This is very concerning since my wife travels the interstate every day to work and this experience may be more difficult for her to handle. I see a lot of the same issues with 2014-2018 Subaru Foresters online.

I took my 2016 Subaru Forester 2.5i to be looked at by the dealership due to having an issue. I was at a traffic light, and when the light turned green, the cars ahead started moving to about 5 mph, and I did the same, but when the cars ahead finally got going at a faster clip, when I pressed the gas, the car decelerated. I took my foot off the pedal and then pressed on it again, and it did the same thing, but would seem to engage a bit and then decelerate, so that the car slowed then speeded up a bit then slowed and then speeded up a bit, and this happened about 4 or 5 cycles, not what one would expect to happen in a new vehicle. The lights on the dashboard were all flashing when I pulled into the left hand turn lane. I was worried that it would do that to me as I crossed the road, but thankfully it did not. I parked and after a couple hours when I came back and turned the vehicle on, the only dash light that stayed on was the Check Engine light. It's still at the dealers today, but I was told they were going to send me home with my vehicle, but the same thing happened to them at the end of their test drive, so they are keeping it (Thank God!). The computer told them nothing. I saw similar complaints regarding Subaru Foresters which were reported on this sight. I tried to search in the NHTSA site for complaints, but was unable to find that option.

Update from Feb 13, 2018: Turns out there was a rodent that chewed on a wire which caused the issue. Dealer fixed and it's been fine ever since.
