Outback Premium 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 65,000 miles

Key was intermittently getting stuck in the ignition. Subaru extended the warranty for the shift guide plate repair, may be expired however. Long fix, took the 4 hours, but have not had the issue since.

About 3 out of 5 times the key will it come out of the ignition. I have to sometimes turn the car on again to get it to release. It is a nuisance.

Every morning, and randomly other times for the past several weeks, when put my car in park, I can't get the key out of the ignition and the car aux power is still on. I have tried re-parking, moving the gear shift several times into Park position, setting and un-setting the parking brake, turning the steering wheel. Nothing seems to work. After about 4 minutes as I continue to try repeatedly it just randomly allows me to remove the key. I am taking to the dealer this week, but after searching online, I see this is a regular problem. This problem is MAJOR as you can't leave your car with the keys in it for obvious reasons, it is a safety issue because sometimes it happens in an area that is not that safe to be in in the first place, and it has caused me to be late for work as I sit in the parking lot trying to get my key to release. Given that so many have this same problem, it Subaru needs to address this.

I will update my post after I take it to be repaired.
