Purchased 4runner new in Aug. 2017. Two or three times experienced what I thought might be a surge of power/acceleration. However, this morning, while driving approximately 60 MPR on I-95, when I applied the brake to slow down it felt as though the brakes locked and the vehicle sped up.

In a panic I pulled over to a large shoulder that, as luck would have it, was right in front of me. The car did stop and I resumed driving without further incident. This was the worst occasion yet and I will be taking it to the dealer to address the issue.

I'm not really sure if the car actually accelerated or it was just my expectations of the vehicle to slow down and it didn't. I did notice that the break pedal on compressed about 3" and wouldn't go any further.

What I am hoping to gain here is insight to what the problem could be before going to the dealers to complain. Also hoping someone else might have experienced this issue and would share.
