Dash starting melting a couple of years ago. Finally received recall from Toyota, took car into dealership and told that the parts were on back order. This was several months ago. Being told it could be a year or more. Nice job standing behind your products Toyota! This was my 4th Toyota product and likely my last.

Summer 2014 - Rosner Toyota in Fredericksburg, Va confirmed that my 2007 Toyota Camry qualified for the recall to fix the melting dashboard, would order the part and let me know when it arrived.

Spring 2016 - Rosner Toyota in Fredericksburg, Va again confirmed that my 2007 Toyota Camry qualified for the recall to fix the melting dashboard, would order the part and let me know when it arrived.

Late Summer 2016 - Moved to North Carolina where the heat unfortunately is more intense, dashboard melting problem has worsened, Hendrick Toyota in Fayetteville, NC confirmed that my 2007 Toyota Camry qualified for the recall to fix the melting dashboard, would order the part and let me know when it arrived.

I am currently shopping for a new car and will need to use my 2007 Toyota Camry as a trade. The trade in value will be considerably less due to the condition of the dashboard. Owners of these melting dashboard vehicles should not be penalized through a reduced trade-in value.

We are fed up with the run-around we have been receiving from Toyota. This is turning into a waiting game. I firmly believe Toyota is hoping the owners of these cars with the melting dashboard issues will give up, and either pay for the replacement out of their own pocket, or trade in the vehicle as is and take the hit. This problem needs to be addressed...now!!!!

I received the letter from TOYOTA and didn't pay attention to it since the dashboard was still good. Few months after the dashboard started melting and cracking. At that time I didn't think about the letter (I forgot about it). Luckily looking for something else I found the Toyota letter. By that time the mileage of my vehicle was over 151000 but luckily the expiration date was on May 31 of 2017.

I decided to contact RIVERGATE TOYOTA in Madison TN to make an appointment and the lady said that it was not necessary to make one that I would only needed to take my car in and they would take some pictures and order the part. I went there today (Jan 14 2007), once there this guy asked me if I had made an appointment so I explained what I was told. Then the guy went into the computer and told me that he shows that the issue was already fixed. I was getting annoying and had the guy to go outside where my car was and showed him the dashboard (does it look like it s fixed to you?). We went back inside the office and then he said that he was looking at the wrong information in the system (this guy didn't know what he was doing or was trying to get rid of me).

Finally he told me that all his techs were busy and that it would take a while. I asked him how long and he said once a tech is available it will take 1/2 hour to take the pictures and the paperwork. A lady who worked there told him that he could do that himself, so he did everything in less than 5 minutes.

Finally the guy saw a note that stated that the vehicle has a rebuilt title and told me there was nothing he could do. The other lady backed him up so I called TOYOTA MOTORS USA and spent an hour on the phone just for some guy to tell me the same sh*t. Again these TOYOTA MOTORS USA and DEALERS won't take responsibility. They are getting away with their scam.

The dashboard of my 2007 Toyota Camry is definitely melting! I only have 34,000 miles on this car and intended on it lasting for years, but the quality of the construction is so poor, that it you can't put anything at all on the dashboard without it adhering to it permanently. The glare onto the windshield (as it is very shiny) is also very dangerous!!

I bought this vehicle (used) as a 1st car for my daughter. The dealer did not mention anything about the issue and it was assumed that this was due to heavy use of some kind of cleaner etc. We have since discovered this was a major issue with this model. The dash is very sticky to the touch and is very reflective and dangerous when driving. My teenage daughter is having a difficult time seeing when the sun hits the dash (almost always).

My husband notice the 07'Camry dash board melting about a month ago and I am not sure how long has this been going on because I hardly get into his car, but I am guessing this must have been there more than one month. Here in Houston the temps are high and high humidity must have had something to do with it. I have run a research online today about the problem and saw that Toyota agreed to cover the replacement of the dash board. I just hope that it will be made of better material than the original. My car had already the over consumption of oil fixed by Toyota and couple other problems. They are making lemon cars and I won't be buying another Toyota in the future. The driver side sun visor also fall off recently. I will be making calls to my dealer about it.

Camry LE 2.4L

Car was purchase from my son-in-law/eldest daughter (bought from his mother new) for by youngest daughter. After a month or two after the purchase, I noticed that the interior was pitting and was all marked up and literally decomposing. I wrongly blamed my daughter and her friends for this apparent abuse until hearing about this issue online. After my prophetic apology to my daughter, I asked her to take it into the dealer to "get the ball rolling". I wanted her to learn how to do this on her own. Several weeks later after being assured that the replacement dash would be at the dealer, they told her that it was the wrong color and would have to be re-ordered.

After taking the vehicle to the dealer several times and several months after this whole ordeal was started, they explained that there were NO dashes in the US whatsoever. I then decided to call Toyota US directly to explain our situation. I was told the same thing and they verified that the actual order date was March 8th 2016 (WHAT??) and that the company contracted to produce these dashes currently has a 6-18 month backlog.

I then asked if there happened to be an airbag issue AND the dash was damaged would I have to wait to have this repaired. They said not likely...so what this tells me is that the dashboards are out there "somewhere" but not eligible for this particular recall and out-of-warranty campaign (different bucket).

I have also learned that this campaign can be transferred to the new owner (provide them with the case #). I also learned that Toyota is not that high quality, begin all- end all uber auto manufacturers that all of the magazines lead us to believe that it is.

Btw, after the Toyota warranty expired, I personally did all the servicing on this vehicle. I could write another complete article on the long laundry list of components that needed replacement due to premature wear/failure. Image if that vehicle came out of Detroit! Oh how the flames would fly!

Thoroughly disgusted.

This dash issue is not just unsightly. It is also a large safety risk as the reflective dash casts a image on the front window. This causes distraction and makes visibility poor.

My dashboard started melting so I contacted Toyota at the time I contacted them they sent me a e-mail stating they had never heard of this problem, this was around 2012,but the dash was sticky before then.I waited because I figured it would just get better. My mistake,it only got worse,I contacted Toyota again, same response[I saved these e-mails] Eventually Toyota sent out a Warranty Enhancement Notification-ZE6. I went to my Toyota Dealer and was put on a waiting list in Sept.2015.The dashes were supposed to take 3 to 6 months to arrive. So I waited and waited,no call for me to come in and get the Dashboard replaced.I went back to the dealer on 3-10-16,at this point they wanted to take a picture of the dash, which they did.Today May,24,2016 I called for a update on my replacement and was told that they had over 500 cars that needed the dashboards replaced and I was #150 on their list, also they were only getting a couple of dashes a month. At this rate I don't see any relief for my problem in the near future. So bottom line is --Toyota has failed to stand behind it's CARS.I was only able to drive my car for about three years without this problem. Then there's the thought about the effects of whatever is causing the dash to melt have on my health.l
