When all the engine lights come on, a friend read the codes and said 2 ignition coils needed replacing. I took it to a Toyota dealer as I felt the problem was substantial. They replaced 1 coil and all the spark plugs. 3 days later, all the engine lights come back on. I phoned the dealer and asked if they were going to charge me the $135.00 code reader fee again. They said yes as the codes had to be read for the mechanic to know what is failing. I took it to the original dealer that I bought the car from and they said they only charge the fee once for the same problem and they charge $98.00 for the code reader. They replaced a 2nd ignition coil. On the way home the lights come back on again. Back to the original dealer and they replaced the IG2 relay at N/C. Lights come back on 3 days later. Back to original dealer and they replaced the last 4 ignition coils. All is good now for 2 weeks.

This Camry was fixed by Darkars Toyota of Silver Spring MD for oil consumption recall about a year ago. However, a few months after that, the emission inspection failed it because the check engine light came on. I took it to Darkars Toyota of Silver Spring and they diagnosed it for Engine cooling temperature sensor (code P0116) was replaced and just before I drove the car 10-Yards from the Garage, the engine light came back on. Darkars Toyota wanted to do further investigation and in 24hrs.time they reported to me "LIGHT CAME BACK ON AFTER REPAIR: RECOMMEND, INTAKE VVTI GEAR; TIMING CHAIN GUIDES EXHAUST GEAR SPROCKET, CRANK SHAFT SPROCKET, TIMING F PLATE" and this might not address the check engine light problem. I'm so far over $400.00 out of pocket and I'm told this further attempt to fix it will cost me close to $3,500.00 more. No solution in sight. Would this be a manufacturing problem? I asked, the reply from the service tech was they don't know. The tech, service manager, Mehdi Keshti of Silver Spring Toyota, promised to attempt to talk to TOYOTA if they can help but never spoke to me since (despite my attempt to reach him at his # 301-622-0300).

On August 17, 2011, I had to replace the engine coil pack for a cylinder misfire. In 2012, I was told the power steering fluid was leaking and the line needed replacing. On August 1, 2014, I had to replace the alternator. On May 2, 2015, I had to replace the coil pack for cylinder #5. In October 2015, the delayed hesitation as I pressed the gas pedal was diagnosed as a transmission issue. To top it off, last week engine oil has started leaking. I am very disappointed and disheartened by all of these issues.

The engine light and ABS light illuminate as I am driving, and my speedometer drops to zero ...my tachometer (RPMS) goes haywire..as if it is arcing, the temperature gauge, drops to cold and bounces back up to normal...and during all this, my AC blows out warm air. I've had 2 mechanics attempt to fix this, they never seen anything like this before. All attempts have failed. I replaced ABS computer module, and checked some harness wires...no fix so far. When this issue occurs, it is intermittent, and unpredictable. For example it can last 2 seconds, 30 seconds or the whole ride home!

I bought this Toyota Camry XLE 3.5 Automatic from dealership (1855 Merivale Road, Ottawa) as certified in June 2010 with 46,309 KM. I did not bother to buy extended warranty with reason - because I was using Camry 2000 without having to pass through hell as compared to buying a newer brand of Toyota Camry 2007. I was proven wrong as I go back to 1855 Merivale Road, Ottawa Toyota dealership to fix recurring engine light issue on the average of every four months till date. I have spent close to $5000.00 for labor and parts (Ignition Coils, Oxygen sensor) since June 2010.

In July. 2014, I needed to renew my license plate and of course, was to get it certified for drive clean. I have never thought of fixing this car with any road side mechanic because my believe is that they (Toyota) will always get it fixed professionally being the manufacturer of this car. To date, I am proven wrong with my uncountable awful experiences.

9 May 2014: The worst nightmare - Getting ready to do drive clean: Went in to this dealership without any engine light on. The drive clean was completed and was handed the drive clean certificate. Drove about 2 kilometers and got the license renewed. Two (2) kilometers from the Service Ontario office to my home, the dreadful engine light came on. Went back to dealership and complained that the engine light came on as I was driving home. The service manager (Sam G.) explained that it is a coincidence. I was told one (1) ignition coil failed and I was made to replace all 3 coils (1,3 and 5) to be sure the remaining two coils which have not been replaced by me won't fail. I paid Labor - $162.00, Parts - $347.76, Tax - $66.27 Total $576.03. This does not include the cost of Drive Clean that was done. By now I was assured that having changed all the six ignition coils, the engine light will not come on, NO, not anytime soon. Drove off the 1855 Merivale Road Toyota dealership, Ottawa with pain, gnashing of teeth and anguish.

August 2014: Went back to dealership for oil/oil filter change. ...because of the surprise on their faces seeing me, I told them this time is not to fix engine light as they were all expecting to hear my not-so-strange story of engine lights. Drove off 1855 Merivale Toyota dealership after oil change without any need to change ignition coil or Oxygen sensor at least for 4 months. Wednesday 17 September, 2014, driving home from work, the unfriendly engine light came on. Thursday 18 September, 2014 - Went back to 1855 Merivale Toyota, Ottawa for the engine light to be diagnosed, I was told Oxygen Sensor 1 on Bank 2 (P2197) failed. Worried that I won't be stranded, the engine light was reset to drive to work and call back to book for an appointment if it (engine light) comes back on. After the engine light reset, the Camry 2007 XLE 3.5 could not start. Surprised! The battery was boosted and I drove about 3 kilometers before getting to work, the engine light came on. I was told the sensor will not stop me from driving it. Okay, but what if another ignition coil(s) fail while the sensor is not working. That means I am stranded.

Asked for a ride from a co-worker on Friday. I have no means to drop off and pick my children from school, the more reason I bought a car. No means to go grocery shopping and do other family stuff.

Today is Sunday: I am suppose to go to Mass. I am here at home with no means to drive out. The car is there on the parking lot clean and polished with engine light on when started.

Ok, my ordeal is different from any others. Too too much of Adrenaline. Pardon me guys.
