When backing up and applying the brakes there's a loud clunking, most noticeable coming from the left front wheel. I've been told the noise could be the wrong brake pads were installed, or possibly the installation of the pads wasn't done correctly by the technician, causing the pads to not be locked into place on the brake caliber. Have not been back to the dealer to date I bought the vehicle used so with 32K, it has 36K, still have all the extended warranty I bought with the vehicle so will see how much consideration I'm given.

I was involved in a head on collision with a stone fixture, when my Camry too me off the road I was traveling 35mph initially and the car went up to 60 mph onto the side walk. The steering system locked and I had no control over the car anymore and when I applied the brakes it caused the car to accelerate faster. I was going 60 mph into a stone fixture where me car crashed. I'm badly injured due to this car going crazy on me. I had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital for my injuries. The car was totaled out in this crash. Also when the car was placed back in park after the cash it jumped out of gear and I was almost sent into oncoming traffic. Thank god I lived to speak on this very scary encounter. Thank god no one was on the sidewalk this day.

2017 Toyota Camry SE. I have had my vehicle into the dealership over 8 times now for problems with the door lock actuators and a clunking sound coming from the brakes that has progressively gotten worse. The door lock actuators would not lock/unlock and on two occurrences while the vehicle was in motion the doors unlocked themselves without being commanded. The car was brought into the dealer 4 times for the issue before the dealership finally replaced 3 of 4 out of safety. I brought this issue to the general manager attention that it should take 4 visits to the dealership to get a safety feature fixed. He told me Toyota is aware of the problem with the door actuators and have known about the problem but the engineers have not came up with a solution to the problem. Clearly its an electrical issue with the vehicle Toyota and the dealership want to acknowledge or address. The car had been in approx. 8 times now for a clunking sound coming from the braking system that has progressively gotten worse. The dealership said Toyota's are known for this. Their solution was to pay for a brake job even though the car is still under the bumper to bumper warranty and they know their is an defect with the system. I have voiced my concerns to Toyota but they refuse to acknowledge the problem or fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Camry. While attempting to park her vehicle with her foot on the brake pedal, her vehicle jolted forward independently and wedged the vehicle in between a tree and a light post. The contact was uncertain if any warning lights had illuminated prior to the failure. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact stated that the brake pedal seemed to be stuck. A passerby was able to enter the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal several times to release it. The contact was not injured due to the failure. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was repaired. The contact called Toyota of North charlotte (13429 statesville rd, huntersville, nc 28078) for a diagnostic and was informed that the vehicle would be kept for an extended period before receiving a diagnosis. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,594.

Rear back brakes are not safe they lock up. Toyota 2017 Camry purchase 9/2016. 8/2018, had 5 pt inspection brakes were good 8mm all 4 at 27000 miles. Then 10/2018, left rear wheel screeching noises & wheel became extremely hot to touch after driving15-20 minutes. Dealer said it "was environmental", found that rear brake was frozen in bracket and sitting sideways. How did that happen" they did say it was the way I drove and environmental. They fixed it and cost me $500 I asked is this dangerous if brake freezes.? 1 year later 10/2019 and only 11000 miles on the new back brake pads and rotors, the same thing happens to the same wheel, left rear.. I called dealer and brought car in. What a dilemma. Again they said it is environmental?? dust??. they reported that the the new brakes pads are now 7mm after replacing them in 10/2018?? how so ? it appeared that again the pads got stuck in the caliper braket which they cleaned up and lubed. Same problem in 10/2018 I asked why is this happening, could the caliper and bracket be defective. They said it is the material corrodes faster. They told me I should have a brake inspection cleaning every year for $125 as preventative. Now how does a car after just three years have another brake problem, the rear left wheel. All other wheels/brakes are good? so it is environmental for one wheel?" headquarters of Toyota knows about this problem and telling the dealers to tell the customer that it is environmental. Also dealer admitted that there have been other cars same problem and Toyota hdqt know about it but not doing a thing. It scares me to drive this car with a potential braking problem that may cause an accident if the brake freezes and I am not aware of it and the brake pad deteriorates on a long drive. Toyota should owe up to the poor quality of material they are using cause a dangerous situation to arise.

There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to riverhead Toyota (655 old country rd, riverhead, NY 11901, (631) 727-7722) where it was diagnosed that the brake pads were shifting. "check brake system" on the dashboard and totally loss of brakes. The car just started to move when I braked and the system message showed up. Took the car to the dealer and they updated the ECU program. Toyota knows about this issue but isn't recalling or making any move to recall the brake failure or update the system.

While driving on a street at approximately 25mph, I approached an intersection with a stop sign. I applied the brakes and lost power steering electric boost, ABS system, stability control, and speedometer. I was driving in a straight line leading up to the intersection. There was no warning leading up to this loss of function. All systems remain non-functioning. Warning lights for steering, brakes, ABS, traction control, and check engine light are illuminated. The dealer states that the ABS actuator is faulty. The repair part not immediately available. The Toyota rep stated that there was no additional warranty at this time. The repair will be $3000. There are other reports of similar issues. This could be an unrecognized systemic safety hazard. My vehicle has not experienced slowdowns as others have reported when experiencing similar system failures. Uncommanded slowdowns in the heavy traffic in this region could result in a fatal accident. Request NHTSA immediately look into this issue as there are other reports of this issue. The dealer indicated that the ABS parts are on back order which leads to the inference that ABS actuators are being replaced while no NHTSA reports are being filed systems impacted includes, brakes, steering, speed control, stability control. Systems are basic safety systems.

While the vehicle is in motion traveling straight on a highway, warning bell sounds and three warning lights are illuminated simultaneously and constantly: Brake, ABS and stability control system. The center error message panel of the dashboard cycles through the three messages, as shown in the accompanying photos. While these messages are displayed, every few miles there is an apparent loss of power, slowing the vehicle. Pressing the accelerator further does not restore power. Fully releasing the accelerator for a couple of seconds and then pressing the accelerator does restore power. While these messages are displayed, cruise control also does not function. The warning lights remain on until the vehicle is turned off. Upon restarting, the warning lights are no longer illuminated. The photos are from October 29, 2018, but this problem has occurred intermittently and with increasing frequency (now every three days on average) for several weeks. I will be having a dealer investigate. I have seen this problem described for this vehicle make/model/year on other online complaint forums.

In the process of backing the car out of the garage, with the car in reverse, application of the brakes had no affect on slowing the car. After about 69-80 feet (across the driveway, my lawn and my neighbor's lawn) it crashed into the neighbor's shed. There was $6000 damage to the car, some back pain and destruction of the shed.two months later, the same incident occurred but the car was stopped by putting it into first neutral gear and then park before any damage. Then when the vehicle was put in forward gear, the brakes would not stop the car until it was put in first, neutral and then park. Attempts by the dealer to reproduce this condition was unsuccessful and therefore could not be corrected.

When I was driving back home on my 2017 Camry xle 2 nights ago (clear night, dry road, good driving conditions) I hit the brakes as I was approaching a red traffic light. As I depressed the brake pedal, it went all the way to the floor with a noise, without braking. Luckily, I was already driving slow and there was no car in front of me, else I would have hit any car that had been in front of me. I panicked and hit the brakes again and this time the car stopped a little short of the cross traffic, but past the pedestrian crossing. I took the car in for service to Toyota and they are telling me that there is no log of this event in the car's "log" and because they weren't there when this issue happened they don't really know what caused it! the next day, the brakes seem to be working when I drove the car in to service (3 miles), but it troubles me that it even happened on a new car and it could have been a potentially serious accident, but Toyota service couldn't figure out why it had happened. Really worried!
