Steering issue - occurs frequently - feeling of less control in turns and at highway speeds. Brakes - occasional - sudden increase in brake power when braking lightly at highway speeds. Does not continue after releasing brake pedal but is very noticeable. Have had the brakes (drums, pads) repaired / replaced twice (once at a Toyota dealership) using Toyota parts and the issue persists.

In the past 2 1/2 years I rented two Toyota Corolla's from hertz car rental. They both had severe steering problems. They would veer one way, say right for example. A small steering wheel turn to the left did nothing and the car kept going right. Then another small turn to the left and the car would veer sharply to the left. In the first case, in California, when the car veered left I had an accident with another car in the lane to the left. After straighten things out with the other driver and the police, I took the still-drivable car, no longer with a left side mirror to a hertz Agency and exchanged it for a Ford automobile. It steered fine. For the second time, a year later, I thought (incorrectly) that the first car was accidentally out of alignment and I rented another Toyota Corolla from a hertz Agency in Florida. It veered all over the road too. Policewoman stopped me and said I had been reported as driving erratically. When she learned that the problem was with the car she told me to get to the nearest phone and call hertz (80 miles away) and have them bring me another car. Actually, I went to the nearest motel and called hertz from there. It took until the next day for themto bring a different car, not a Toyota. It steered fine. Those Corolla's were dangerous. I rented them because I owned an old 1993 Toyota Corolla and it was a wonderful car and certainly had no steering difficulties. Dates below are approximate.

I was driving on the 60 freeway with my 2007 Toyota Corolla. It drifted to the right for more than 100 yards. When I corrected it, the steering wheel locked to the left and I ended up running into the central divider.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Corolla. Since the date of purchase she noticed that the steering did not stay straight it was a struggle to keep it in straight line. She took the vehicle back to the dealer five times for the failure. The dealer test drove the vehicle and stated it was the tires. The dealer replaced all four tires; however the failure was not corrected. The failure mileage was 17,000 and the current mileage was 32,000. The VIN was not available.

It's a 2007 Corolla. I don't usually drive much before and I do drive a lot since I transfer to college and have to go on fwy. About 3 months ago, once I tried to stop on the road because right light, I left the gas pedal and wait to decelerate and then step on the break, but it didn't, I almost hit the car before me and it's really hard to stop I had to step it really hard. From than time, I began to realize that there might be a problem for it. I cant tell exactly how often it happen, but somehow I know when it goes up to 60mph, and it will decelerate. When it drops to around 45, it stops to drop. And when I go on the fwy, when it hits certain speed like 75, some times it won't slow down even I leave my foot from the gas pedal after I knew the tyt petal problem and the steering problem, I wonder if my car was involved. However, this model is not on the list, I still worried about it. Because tyt might hide the problem, or they did find it now and they will find it later. This week I got a speeding ticket in ca I-5 fwy and I doubt that part of the reason is that the "rare" accelerate problem. I don't know how to fix it because there's no evidence to show the problem right now. I hope that the us will investigate all model from 2000 to 2010 to ensure people safe.

I bought a 2007 Toyota Corolla two years ago and have noticed that sometimes at high speed it feels as if I'm loosing control of the car and that the steering feels loose. At the beginning, I didn't pay much attention, but this had created me to feel insecure when I'm driving fast. I'm currently afraid to drive over 55mph because I have noticed that over that speed it feels as if the car is going thru a lot of wind. I can't really tell if the car is going in one particular direction, it just feels as if I can't make it go straight and have to constantly correct the direction I'm driving, even if it's a straight road. I took the car to a shop to get it checked but they said the computer did not indicate any problems with the steering. I have been driving since 2003 and the last two years have been very stressful, all this time I've been thinking it was me that couldn't keep control of the car and had even considered retaking driving classes. I depend on my car on a daily basis and would deeply appreciate if you could make an investigation on this issue.

Not a crash, but a concern. I read that you are looking into steering of Corollas from 2009 and later, but please look into earlier models as well. Two months ago a problem occurred with my car. Twice while driving on slightly uneven freeways, my car has felt like it was going to leave the lane, steering into the next lane. I grabbed the wheel tighter and turned to correct it, so no crash, but the car did move several feet over before I grabbed the steering wheel. Both times I was going 75-80 mph. I thought I was crazy, but then read about steering problems. As long as I drive less than 70, it has never happened again. (and I have often driven fast in both this car and previous ones) the problem is I can't exactly take it to the dealer and say "sometimes it steers funny" as a description.

Purchased 2007 Corolla from dealer, definitely drifts at highway speeds, have had it re-aligned at dealer, dealer says that nothing is wrong with it --requires frequent steering corrections to keep in within lane.

2007 Toyota Corolla. Steering wheel gets stuck on the return from a left or a right turn. The return on the steering wheel is not a smooth return. Its a hesitant return with a shake. Mainly happens on colder days. Took the vehicle to the Toyota dealership on 1/15/10 for the issue and they said they could not reproduce the issue.

2007 Toyota Corolla wanders at high speeds. Very much like getting pushed by high winds. I find my self fighting to keep lane position. New premium tires and alignment from reputable tire dealer has not changed the behavior.

Toyota Corolla 2007 frequently veers left (wind from the right) - nearly out of lane when a side wind hits car going @ highway speeds - 65mph. I thought this was just "normal" until all this publicity over the Toyota recalls, and figured I should report it. I just slow down, and hold the steering wheel very carefully, but it is quite alarming, and always happens on one stretch of road I travel where the car goes from a wind protected area to a place where cross breezes take place.

I just read an article on msnbc's about '09-10' Corollas having difficulties steering their vehicles. My '07 Corolla has the same problem, especially when I'm driving at highway speeds. I initially thought it was a tire issue, but I have bought new tires recently and after checking the air pressure, the issue remains. It is worse during high winds, as my car has a feeling like I will lose control of the car.

My 2007 Toyota Corolla feels like it is floating when I am on the highway and driving above 60 mph. I thought it was wind or tire pressure but I corrected the tire pressure and it still does the same thing. It only happens when I get up to a higher speed and not on regular roads or in the town. It did not do this for the first year and a half that I owned the car but it has been doing it regularly for the past 6 months.

I have been having problems with my 2007 Toyota Corolla for some time now. When I am on the highway my car swerves back and forth. I have to really hold down on the wheel to get it to drive straight. I went to the Toyota dealership to have them look at the problem and they said that it was slightly unaligned and that the re aligned the steering. After this the car still has problems when driving and Toyota says there is nothing wrong with it but that's not true at all. I have had three near accidents on the highway do to the car swerving but luckily nobody has been hurt. I wish there was something that could be done about this because Toyota just does not seem to care when I go to there groppone dealership in concord, nh; where I bought the car. I hope you guys can help me. It says below the date of incident but I will put most recent since there are three individual near accidents.

I was in a parking lot, parking my car. Just before I had the car in its parking place, the car went wild, totally out of control. It went up the slope bordering the parking lot, then made a turn, and re-entered the parking lot. It came to a stop when it bumped into two other parked cars.

Had been driving my car for 10 minutes when the lights started to flicker. I started to slow and then the car died. There wasn't any power and I was unable to steer the car. Fortunately, there was very light traffic at 0613 and no one hit my car. This has never happened before. My parents arrived within 15 minutes. My dad cleaned the battery terminals and the battery did spark. Car would not restart. A few people helped us push the car off the road. Towed to closest, reputable, mechanic. Main fusible link blown. Wiring w/O rating. Mechanic called Toyota and there wasn't any literature available to give mechanic the rating. Toyota refused to send wiring diagram. Mechanic found online and still no info on rating. Replaced with heaviest rating available. Problem fixed and unable to duplicate what caused problem. Most concerning is that mechanic cannot guarantee that this will not happen again. Car then to Toyota dealership. They were also unable to duplicate problem and cannot guarantee that it will not happen again. Toyota customer service was most unhelpful, implying that I had somehow caused the problem. Also, indicated that I should have gone to Toyota dealership first. Car no longer under warranty so I have no obligation to do go to them for service.
