Our '06 Honda had a Tire Pressure Sensor system which not only reported a suspiciously low tire but identified which tire. It also monitored and displayed each tire's pressure. Driver could watch as temperature of tire increased the pressure. A system check could be done without dangerous stops along the road.
Now comes a newer Toyota with a warning system which doesn't know which tire, the suspected pressure drop (or increase). So now , 5 years later, I must get out and check each tire.
So far the sensor has false alarmed twice.
This does definitely fit into your category of PAIN IN THE ASS..
