My driver's side visor won't stay up creating a very dangerous situation when driving. In over 30 years of owning a vehicle with as much as 240,000 miles on it, I have never had this happen before. It will cost me $100 to replace it due to poor engineering on the manufacturer's part. Toyota should recall this item and offer a replacement visor.

I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma and the sun visor will not stay up. When the problem started it would be at a 30 degree angle from the roof and when I go over a bump it drops completely down blocking my view. It just started to not stay up at all yesterday and completely swings back and forth. I had to remove it this morning before going to work and now am researching a replacement unit.

At approx. 37000 miles my driver's side sun visor on my 2006 Tacoma started drooping down blocking my field of vision. The sun visor would not stay in any position and started making a cracking noise when moved. This was reported to a Toyota dealership for which they stated that it is a known design issue. The sun visor contains two plastic pieces that have been known to fail causing the sun visor to not hold in any position (up or down). I was told by this Toyota dealership to glue a velcro strip onto the sun visor and headboard to stop the visor from falling into my field of vision or pay $120 for a new sun visor with a supposed fix. This is an unacceptable and serious safety issue that must be addressed promptly by Toyota.

Sun visor droops down when pushed forward. Causes loss of vision at distance. Blocks overhead traffic lights. Blocks view down to below rear view mirror. Dealer replaced twice - same results. Toyota rep said this is typical for this vehicle and is a design problem. Neither dealer (I-10 Toyota) nor Toyota offered solution.
