Atlas SEL Premium 3.6L Vr6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 345 miles

After buying the showroom 2019 Atlas SEL Premium I was in love. 3 days later check engine light comes on.

Take it in and a week later I get it back. They had to change an O2 sensor. A day later it came back again. This time I got it back nearly 2 weeks later. They had to change another 02 sensor. Now in between this I am being told that I should be putting premium gas in the vehicle and that they feel the gas I put in it is a problem. If I knew I had to put premium in it only even though it says I can use the cheaper gas I would not have bought it. The crappy gas mileage and a smaller 18-gallon tank makes filling up every 3-4 days a chore.

I am in real estate so I drive all the time and only using premium isn't economical for what I do. So now a month later check engine light comes on again on Sunday. I call the dealership Monday and they tell me to wait to bring it in because they do not have any loaners. 24 hours alter the light goes off on its own. I take it to dealership and they pull the codes and it was caused by the same code for a 3 rd time. I have already requested twice for VW to buy back the car and have been denied. The car only has 3,000 miles on it and has had a check engine light 3 times now and been in the shop for a total of 20 days. I now have 3rd request to VW to buy back this headache of a vehicle. I'm going back to Chevy since I have not had any issues with my last 2 vehicles from them. What is sad is the dealership has actually been pretty fantastic throughout this process. It's VW Corporate making the decisions that is upsetting me at this point.

If you have a car that you know was meant to run cleaner gas in Europe and not our dirty US gas then put the disclaimer on there that premium only should be used prior to purchase.
