CC LUX 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

My son bought this car with 144,000 miles for $4,500 after having a mechanic inspect it. 10 days later he came out from work to go home and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. The oil which was fine 10 days earlier had disappeared with no warning about low oil pressure or anything else. The timing chain jumped the gears, the valves are now bent and the engine is junk. To have someone replace the engine will cost me $3,500. I am now looking for someone to buy it for parts.

I was warned to not buy a Volkswagen and I should have listened. DON'T BUY A VOLKSWAGEN! COMPLETE JUNK!

Today, 6/4/2018, was a double disaster for our family cars. Two are or were in dealerships. There is a VW CC 2011 Sport which refused to start during an out of state trip; estimate $6,200.00. This figure is from a dealer whose service technician only listened to the clicking of an inert engine. The estimate conjectures valve damage and timing chain failure. These problems have been reported and are under litigation. The figure quoted seems to be what VW is setting as a reimbursement limit. However, I have not got the cash to repair the company's failure, a problem known since 2010. Probably I will not fix it since the car isn't worth that much.

Car never gave signs of any issues or warning lights ran car like normal. Stopped at a store, went inside came back out the car would not start. After numerous attempt to try to start vehicle nothing would turn the car on. Had to get the car towed to mechanic only to find out that the work needed was so extensive. The mechanic spoke of the engine needed service. Want to charge me a hefty charge of $3800. I then continued to have the car towed to a VW dealer shop and to my surprise they wanted a ridiculous amount of $8560.00 for the repair. Something about the engine not having compression and the tensioner and the cylinder needed to be fixed. So all in all I needed a whole new engine. I have been on an emotional roller-coaster since then. I am a single mom with three kids who cannot afford all this repair. My car who I loved and need to use to get to work and do my daily functions i cannot drive. So I now have a piece of metal on my driveway. I have looked and searched all over for engines and possible alternatives to get the car fixed but no. I have not received any answers and resolutions to this issue. I did however find a complaint about the tensioner and cylinders and the same issue the car is experiencing. I was informed by a mechanic these issues have been on going with these cars and they should have recalled the engines a long time ago. These issues could cause a huge accident while driving if the car shuts off. Luckily I was parked, however someone could get seriously hurt. I am still out of a car and in search of the repairs needed to get the car repaired. I also am in search of an attorney who will take my case as this is deemed some type of resolution.
