In June, I purchased a 2014 Jetta Wagon new off the lot. I drove it for 4.5 months in summer conditions, then parked it for 5 weeks. On return, the brakes were so heavily corroded that the service department at the dealership was in shock. They had never seen anything like it, particularly in such a new car.
I contacted VW Canada both by phone and email. The response by phone was timely, the response via email took 5 weeks. Neither offered any reason as to why this happened. The response was "the corrosion on the brakes is not a result of a manufacturing shortcoming but rather the result of outside influence and is not covered by the warranty provided". What I need to know is what this "outside influence" could possibly be. This is my 2nd wagon and have enjoyed the car but need to know some kind of cause so I can avoid a repeat problem.
