running roughly

The check engine light came on and started to run rough. I then took it to VW service and was told I needed to replace 1.) Real Main Seal 2.) Upper Lower timing cover gaskets 3.) Crankcase Breather valve 4.) Fuel pump. $5,500 total. I'm defiantly going to trade it in for something else.

Tiguan S 2.0L Tfi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,000 miles

my issue is same as #14 in the list by Parma, OH, USA

At slower speeds, idle, coming to a stop and accelerating the engine sputters causing a hazardous situation.

After this the car doesn't idle properly. The RPM jumps at random during idle and i hear noise when the RPM goes up.

The sound is from the engine in the passenger side and i see oil sprayed from the timing chain area to the the back of the engine and to the top as well.

Yep, it's me again. Tiguan running rough and occasionally stalling for past few months. Dealership couldn't find "the" problem until this week when the engine light finally came on. Paid $1100 to have the carbon deposits cleaned out of the intake valves (not covered by my $2k extended warranty). Drove the car from the dealership and engine light came on again 30 minutes later. I don't even care what they find this time. I'm towing it to a Toyota dealer and buying a Camry. VW's are a joy to drive, but when the service department knows you by name and your kids get to feed the fish in their aquarium you're spending too much on repairs.
