— National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officials want to know if there is a problem with the rear suspension of 2006-2008 Toyota RAV4's.

According to the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI), the government has received seven complaints of rear suspension arm assembly failure, both the left and right sides. Four people said the parts broke while they were driving over 35 MPH which caused the vehicle to lose control.

Car manufacturers like Toyota are quick to deny any problems, but that sure gets tricky when the complaints come with attached photos showing the wheel severely out of alignment next to the failed assembly. Something tells me the NHTSA isn't going to buy the "it was photoshopped" defense strategy.

A California RAV4 owner told their rear suspension groans every time they go over a bump.

"I would really like for this to get fixed before I have to start paying for it out of my own pocket, or maybe that's the gimmick, make some money on me after the warranty is up," said the driver.

Although a preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the problem, no recall has been ordered.
