— Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Beetle vehicles equipped with leather sport seats.
If the right front passenger seat gets wet, the occupant control module may not properly detect the presence of a child restraint installed in the seat, which can cause the air bag to keep working. Normally the air bag would be deactivated so as to cause no harm to the child.
Volkswagen said the affected vehicles were manufactured from February, 2012, through August, 2012.
VW didn’t release a schedule of when the recall will begin, but once the recall is underway your dealer will replace the control modules.
Owners may contact Volkswagen at 800-822-8987 and refer to recall number 69i9/W6.
