— BMW is recalling model year 2007-2010 X5 SAV vehicles equipped with an 8-cylinder engine.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the brake vacuum pump may leak oil into the hose causing contamination that could result in a loss of power braking.
BMW says the affected vehicles were manufactured September 12, 2006, through March 18, 2010. The automaker says there are no reports of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.
The recall is expected to begin this month. The brake vacuum line (including a check valve) will be inspected and replaced eliminating the possibility for oil to reach the brake booster. If necessary, the brake booster and brake master cylinder will also be replaced.
