— The trouble a simple label can cause in the automotive world. Just ask Kia which announced a recall of almost 12,000 model year 2014 Kia Sportage vehicles because of label problems.
Kia told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration a tire pressure label has the wrong psi specifications. It's only off by a couple psi, but it's enough to violate federal safety standards.
It probably didn't cause any Sportage owners a problem, but Kia said they will reimburse owners any repair expenses already incurred.
Beyond that, the recall should begin this month and will require a trip to your dealer to fix the label. Kia will also mail a new sticker for use in the owners manual.
If you have questions about the tires or the recall, contact Kia at 800-333-4542 and tell them you want info about recall number SC103.
