Volkswagen Recalls Jetta and Passat To Fix Seat Problems

— Volkswagen is recalling 393 model year 2015 Volkswagen Jetta and Passat cars equipped with manual front seatback recliners. VW says the cars have brackets on the seatback recliner that might not engage and cause movement of the seatback.

VW says the Jetta and Passat cars were tested in the factory and found to have poor performance of the seatback recliner adjustment mechanism. There have been no U.S. reports of accidents or injuries related to the defect, but it won't be a good situation for a driver if the seat starts wildly moving around.

Volkswagen says the recalled Jetta and Passat cars were manufactured September 23, 2014, to October 9, 2014, and again, includes only those with manual front seatback recliners.

The recall has already started with owners receiving instructions to get the cars to VW dealers to have the seatback recliner retaining bracket fixed.

Owners of the 2015 VW Jetta and VW Passat can contact Volkswagen at 800-893-5298 and refer to recall number 72F1.
