— Following a trail of warranty claims for air conditioners that stopped working, Acura is recalling 106,000 model year 2014-2015 MDX midsize SUVs.
The automaker, after examining the warranty claims, tracked the problem to an air conditioner clutch drive bolt that can loosen or break. If the bolt breaks, the clutch drive pulley can fall away from the SUV and do serious damage to the SUV or other vehicles on the road.
However, Acura said it hasn't received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the drive pulley.
Acura says mailed recall notifications will be sent toward the end of July 2015. Dealers will replace the air conditioning clutch drive bolt in the affected SUVs.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't released additional details about the Acura MDX recall, but MDX owners with questions should call Acura at 800-382-2238.
