— Fiat Chrysler is recalling over 1,600 cars, trucks and vans in three separate recalls for hood, airbag and stalling problems.

Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Grand Caravan

About 1,624 vans have hoods that could suddenly open while the vans are on the road. Recalled are the 2016 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan equipped with bolts that can come loose.

Chrysler says the bolts attach the hood striker to the hood and those bolts can loosen enough to cause the hood to unlatch. A hood flying open while driving can cause everything from a blocked view to a shattered windshield.

Chrysler found the hood striker problem during the assembly process when it was determined a hood adjust operator was using the wrong technique to re-torque hood striker bolts on vehicles that required hood adjustments. The root cause was blamed on the operator not receiving proper training as a new employee.

The automaker says the recalled 2016 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan vans were built August 19, 2015, to August 27, 2015.

The recall should begin November 6, 2015, when Chrysler and Dodge dealers will install new hood striker bolts that are tightened properly.

Affected owners of the 2016 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan may contact Fiat Chrysler at 800-853-1403 and give them recall number R53.

Ram Trucks

About 41 Ram trucks have engine control modules that can short-circuit and cause the engines to stall. Chrysler says the recalled trucks are the 2016 Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis and Ram 4500/5500 Cab Chassis trucks.

All the recalled trucks were manufactured July 31, 2015, to August 13, 2015, and all equipped with 6.7L Cummins diesel engines.

The recall will begin November 6, 2015, when Ram dealers will replace the engine control modules. Owners of the recalled trucks who have questions should call Fiat Chrysler at 800-853-1403 and make reference to recall number R52.

Fiat 500L

Fifteen model year 2015 Fiat 500L need their front passenger front airbags repaired because they weren't folded properly during manufacturing. The airbags won't deploy correctly in a crash and won't provide protection to a passenger.

Chrysler says the affected cars were built April 23, 2015, to May 10, 2015.

Fiat learned of the issue on September 8, 2015, when the automaker was notified of a problem with the airbag supplier. The supplier said the passenger airbag vent tether routing was incorrect and could cause the airbag to be too rigid.

Fiat dealers will replace the passenger front airbag starting November 6, 2015. Until then, owners of the Fiat 500L can contact Fiat customer service at 888-242-6342 and give them recall number R54.
