— Fiat Chrysler released additional details about its buyback and incentive programs concerning past recalls where things didn't go as planned.

As part of its agreement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler will offer $100 prepaid cards to owners of older SUVs and separately trucks manufactured from 2009-2012.

The offer concerns 1993-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty SUVs that had not been repaired by July 24, 2015. Owners of the Grand Cherokee can choose to receive a $100 Visa prepaid card once recall repairs are complete. If an owner doesn't want the prepaid card, the Grand Cherokee can be traded for a new vehicle and the owner will receive a $1,000 incentive.

Jeep Liberty owners will receive a $100 Visa prepaid card once recall repairs are complete.

Owners of the affected trucks have options to consider, including a $100 Visa prepaid card. Fiat Chrysler says the following trucks are affected if they were not repaired as of July 24, 2015.

  • 2009 Chrysler Aspen
  • 2009 Dodge Durango
  • 2009-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 1500
  • 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota
  • 2008-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 2500 and 3500 4x4
  • 2008-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 2500 4x2 Cab Chassis
  • 2008 Dodge Ram/Ram Mega Cab 4x4
  • 2008-2012 Dodge Ram/Ram 4500 and 5500

If a prepaid card is not your thing, you can negotiate trade-ins on new vehicles until January 4, 2016, or choose a repurchase plan.

A trade-in amount will be determined when a customer and dealer establish a value for the vehicle, then the customer buys a new vehicle and receives a $2,000 incentive on a Ram-brand vehicle or a $1,000 incentive on a Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Fiat vehicle.

Owners can visit to see a preliminary estimated value of their vehicles, according to “good” market value plus 10 percent.

Starting October 1, 2015, owners can contact dealers to have the vehicles inspected, then dealers will contact a third-party administrator to finish the inspection and give owners a final offer.

Owners will have three options.

  • Choose the recall repair and receive a $100 Visa prepaid card.
  • Accept the repurchase offer.
  • Choose the trade-in incentive, which is available through January 4, 2016.

To determine if a vehicle has already been repaired under previous recalls, owners can visit or
