Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus Recalled to Fix Sun Visors

— Mitsubishi is recalling 139 model year 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus cars equipped with beige interiors.

The cars were previously repaired for a June 2015 recall using an incorrect part that may not prevent the passenger-side sun visor from detaching if the passenger frontal airbag deploys and the passenger side sun visor is folded down in a certain position.

In the 2015 recall, Mitsubishi didn't accurately identify the availability of 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus vehicles with beige interiors.

Due to this problem, the beige visor tethers for 2003-2005 vehicles were inadvertently installed on some 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus vehicles with beige interiors during the completion of the 2015 recall.

Mitsubishi is ordering the recall because the Chrysler and Dodge vehicles are manufactured using a Mitsubishi Eclipse platform, but it will be Chrysler that contacts owners.

Chrysler doesn't know when the recall will begin but dealers will install the correct tether straps to hold the passenger sun visors in place.

Owners of the 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus can call Chrysler at 800-853-1403.
