GM Recalls Chevy Express and GMC Savana Vans

General Motors recalls 40 vans to fix problems with the mirrors that violate safety laws.

— General Motors is recalling 40 Chevy and GMC vans because the mirrors are messed up.

The 2016-2017 Chevrolet Express and 2016 GMC Savana were manufactured without inside rear-view mirrors and with right-hand convex exterior rear-view mirrors. That's a problem because federal safety regulations say the vans are required to have either inside rear-view mirrors or both left- and right-hand flat exterior rear-view mirrors.

The 2016-2017 Chevrolet Express vans were manufactured September 25, 2015, to August 22, 2016, and the 2016 GMC Savana vans were built January 28, 2016, to May 18, 2016.

GM doesn't know when the mirror recall will begin, but dealers will eventually install a right-hand rear-view mirror.

Owners with questions about the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana recall can call Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 800-462-8782.

GM's number for this recall is 16036.
