Honda and Acura Vehicles Recalled to Replace Gas Tanks

Posted in Recalls

— Honda is recalling 39 vehicles that may have gas tanks that can leak fuel. Recalled are the 2015 Acura MDX 2WD and MDX 4WD, 2016 Acura MDX 4WD, 2015-2016 Honda Odyssey and 2016 Honda Pilot 2WD and 4WD.

Honda blames the problem on insufficient welds which may separate and allow fuel to leak out. One small ignition source near the fuel and a call to 911 will be necessary. However, Honda says no fires or injuries have been reported related to the gas tanks.

The recall should begin July 8, 2016. Honda and Acura dealers will replace the gas tanks, but until then owners may call 888-234-2138 with any questions.

Honda's gas tank recall numbers are KA9 (Honda vehicles) and KB0 (Acura vehicles).
