— About 835 model year 2017 Ford Focus cars are recalled in North America to replace the second-row left-side seatback frames if there are problems noticed with the welds.

The automaker didn't release much information, but did say the seatbacks may have welds that aren't deep enough between the outboard pivot brackets and the pivot nut joints.

If the weld penetration isn't enough, the frame may not hold in a crash, although Ford isn't aware of any related crashes or injuries.

Ford says the recalled 2017 Ford Focus cars were built in Michigan between June 7 and June 12, 2017.

About 698 of the cars are in the U.S., another 132 are in Canada and five are in Mexico.

The recall is expected to begin October 16, 2017. Ford dealers will inspect the welds and if needed, the seatback frames will be replaced.

Owners of 2017 Ford Focus cars may call the automaker at 866-436-7332 and refer to recall number 17C13.
