— About 8,000 Ford F-150, C-MAX and Focus vehicles are recalled in two separate recalls for front-end problems and instrument panels that can fail to provide important warnings.

2017 Ford F-150 Recall

Nearly 8,000 of the recalled vehicles involve 2017 Ford F-150 trucks after the automaker learned the instrument panels can go dark and fail to provide warning lights, messages and chimes. Ford says about 6,792 of the trucks are in the U.S., 1,057 are in Canada and 125 are located in Mexico.

According to Ford, the instrument panel can fail right after the F-150 is started in cold temperatures, leaving drivers without the ability to see the position of the transmission gear shifter that is located in a cluster on the panel.

In addition, Ford found with the instrument panel failure, chimes, messages and warning lights will fail and leave a driver in the dark about potential problems.

All the trucks were built between October 4, through November 23, 2016, and no accidents or injuries have been reported due to instrument panel failures.

The recall is expected to begin February 7, 2017. Owners of the 2017 Ford F-150 may call the automaker at 866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 17C01.

2016 Ford Focus, 2016 Ford C-MAX Recall

Ford is recalling only 18 model year 2016 Ford Focus and C-MAX cars for structural problems that may cause serious problems in a crash. Ford says the left-hand body apron joints located on the floor pan may not be strong enough.

The automaker says the structural integrity of the apron joints are "improper," but Ford engineers didn't explain what they meant by that word. Although the front-end may not be secure, Ford says it is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the defect.

The 2016 Ford Focus cars were built from October 26-27, 2016, and the 2016 Ford C-MAX cars were built on October 26, 2016.

Ford says 17 of the cars are in the U.S. and one is located in Canada.

Dealerships will inspect and repair the left-hand body apron joints, but Ford doesn't know when the recall will begin.

Owners of the 2016 Ford Focus and C-MAX cars may call Ford at 866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 17S03.
