— Toyota is recalling 73,000 Tundra trucks for step bumpers that may break when stepped on. Affected are 2016-2017 Toyota Tundra trucks equipped with rear step bumpers made of resin, with resin reinforcement brackets at the corners.

If something comes into contact with a corner of the bumper, the impact can damage the resin brackets and cause part of the bumper to break away. Trucks with chrome step bumpers are not affected by the recall.

Toyota dealers will replace the resin rear bumper reinforcement brackets with steel ones brackets and replace the rear bumper tread, but replacement parts aren't available.

Toyota will begin notifying owners of the recall on February 15, 2017, then second notices will be mailed when parts are available.

Tundra owners may contact Toyota customer service at 800-331-4331 and use recall number H0C.
