— Volkswagen is recalling 23 model year 2016-2017 CC vehicles because they may have the wrong seat headrests.

The wrong headrests can fail to protect the head of an occupant in a crash and is a violation of federal safety regulations.

The head restraints that were installed are used for all locations outside the U.S. because the standards are different.

VW calls these the RoW headrests, meaning "rest of the world." The RoW head restraint is adjustable in six positions and the U.S. head restraint is adjustable only in five positions.

VW blames the error on the head restraints being stored in the wrong location.

Volkswagen says the recall will begin in June 2017. Concerned CC owners can contact the automaker at 800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 72G5.
