— Ford is recalling about 555 model year 2018 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUVs that may have striker bolts too short to hold the doors closed in crash impacts.

Ford says the bolts may be just 5 millimeters shorter than the required length, but it's enough to send the doors flying open.

Although a dangerous condition, the automaker says it's unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the bolts.

The recalled SUVs were built between July 27 to July 31, 2018, with 503 SUVs in the U.S., 51 in Canada and one SUV in Mexico.

It's the second recall for 2018 Edge and MKX SUVs in the past week as the same models were recently recalled for unsecured cables at the starters and alternators.

Ford didn't release more details or when the striker bolt recall will begin, but dealers will replace the striker bolts on all four doors.

Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX customers may call 866-436-7332 and request information about recall number 18C06.
