— Honda is recalling more than 7,000 model year 2017-2018 Civic Hatchback and Civic Type R vehicles because the owner's manuals may be wrong or completely missing from the vehicles.

Honda received a report in February 2018 that indicated the wrong owner's manual was found in a vehicle during a routine port inspection. The automaker opened an investigation and determined there were problems at one manufacturing plant.

Honda confirmed the plant had expanded responsibilities because of more export markets that had been added.

As of November 2018, Honda received 16 warranty claims about the manuals, but the automaker isn't aware of any crashes or injuries.

The Civic recall is expected to begin January 8, 2019. Honda dealers will replace the owner information kits.

Customers with questions should call Honda at 888-234-2138 and ask about recall number O3A.
