Ram ProMaster City Vans Recalled For Wrong Tire Placards

Posted in Recalls

— Fiat Chrysler (FCA US) is recalling 3,460 model year 2018 Ram ProMaster City cargo vans because the tire placards say the seating capacity is five rather than two occupants.

The 2018 Ram ProMaster City cargo van tire placards must meet federal regulations that require the weight capacity of the van and the maximum number of occupants allowed, but the automaker says the seating capacity software wasn't set up correctly.

However, Chrysler says the weight capacity printed on the labels is correct.

The cargo vans were built between June 29, 2017, and December 18, 2017, and any vans built after December 18 already include the correct tire placards.

Fiat Chrysler expects the recall to begin April 13, 2018. Ram dealers will need to install new tire placards with the correct seating capacity information.
