Porsche discovered a problem during a frontal crash test that caused a fuel leak when the lower longitudinal crash beam penetrated the bulkhead wall at the lower cross body component. In real-world driving, a crossmember may detach from the luggage compartment bracket and create the fuel leak.

Porsche says cars made after February 15, 2019, are not affected because the lower longitudinal crash beam components were reinforced using additional rivets.

The Porsche recall will begin April 21, 2019, when dealers will add rivets to the crossmembers for more secure connections.

Customers are welcome to call the automaker at 800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AKA3.
