— A Porsche fuel economy settlement approval hearing will be held October 21 to determine if the settlement agreement terms will be granted to vehicle owners.

The Porsche class action lawsuit includes about 500,000 gasoline-powered 2005-2020 vehicles listed at the bottom of this page.

The settlement relates to Volkswagen's emissions and fuel economy litigation that began years ago after VW was caught using illegal defeat devices to fool regulators and consumers.

The Porsche fuel economy settlement was reached after a class action lawsuit alleged the vehicles achieve fuel economy one to two miles per gallon less than advertised on the window stickers.

According to the Porsche fuel economy settlement, each customer may receive $200 to $1,100 in compensation, depending on the vehicle.

Compensation is based on the difference in cost for the amount of gasoline that would have been required under the original window sticker fuel economy label and the greater amount required under the adjusted fuel economy label.

In addition, compensation includes a goodwill payment of 15% of those damages for the inconvenience associated with additional gas stops at the pumps.

The gasoline price used in the Porsche fuel economy settlement calculations is $3.97 per gallon, and compensation is available for the first 96 months after the vehicle was originally sold or leased (the full useful life of the vehicle), and the compensation is calculated on a monthly basis.

Each of the 33 plaintiffs who sued expect to receive $250 each, and attorneys for the plaintiffs expect to receive $24,710,733.89 for fees and costs.

The Porsche gasoline litigation is called, In re: Volkswagen "Clean Diesel" Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation," and was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Francisco Division.

The plaintiffs are represented by Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP.
