— A Fiat 500 door handle replacement lawsuit settlement has been reached for all persons in Quebec who purchased or leased a 2012-2019 Fiat 500.

According to the class action, the Fiat door handles or door locking mechanisms jam, break and fall off due to defects.

FCA denies all claims and allegations in the Fiat 500 door handle class action lawsuit.

Fiat 500 Door Handle Settlement

According to the settlement agreement, Chrysler will provide coverage to repair or replace the door handles at the time of inspection. Coverage will last for 10 years from the date the Fiat 500 went into service.

For some cars the coverage has already expired. For those vehicles the coverage will be extended for one year from the settlement notice. However, the door handle repair or replacement program will not cover preventative inspections or repairs.

There will also be no per member limit on the number of claims that can be submitted during the warranty period.

Fiat 500 Door Handle Replacement Reimbursement

FCA has agreed to reimburse expenses for repairs or replacements of the Fiat 500 door handles no matter which facility performed the repairs or replacements.

Claims for reimbursement must be submitted within one year of the first date on which the notices advising customers the settlement has been approved have been sent out.

A final approval hearing is scheduled for February 16, 2026, so nothing is official until the judge grants approval.

The Fiat 500 door handle replacement lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of Quebec: Paciucci, et al., v. FCA Canada Inc.

Fiat 500 customers are represented by Lex Group Inc.
