Takata recall: I received my passenger frontal airbag recall (dir2) notice dated March 2017 and it advises that because the replacement parts are not available, that Audi recommends avoiding use of the front passenger seat whenever possible until the recall repair has been performed. This vehicle is my family's primary vehicle and is used by the driver and one or more passengers nearly every day. We have a second vehicle, a 2007 Ford Ranger which also has a takata passenger frontal airbag recall with no date for repair. I have spoken with my local Audi dealer who has stated that no replacement parts will be available for at least two years or more. We have waited for the Ford Ranger airbag replacement parts for a couple of years already. We do not have the resources to scrap either of our defective vehicles and start over with another car, nor can we afford to rent a vehicle to replace either or both of the vehicles that are deemed to be unsafe for our family. This lack of a solution on the part of the car manufacturers and by the government overseeing this issue is deplorable.
