The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328I. When the contact started the vehicle and activated the air conditioner, he smelled smoke. There were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. The vehicle was taken to South motors BMW (16215 S dixie hwy, miami, fl), but were unable to assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There were two recalls potentially related to the failure: NHTSA campaign number: 17V683000 (engine and engine cooling) and NHTSA campaign number: 17V676000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. - (recall related incident)

The car has been recalled by BMW national due to 2 recalls: The pvc valve gasket and the heating wireframe. Car had been showing signs of smoke coming out of hood and smell of plastic burned inside the cabin. BMW national asked the car to be towed to a dealership. Car is actually with the dealership for over 6 weeks and BMW has not given any prevision when it will be repaired. Please help.

The car will not stop over heating and cuts off when in the middle of the highway when I was going 65 mph I almost wasn't able to make it off the road because I didn't have any power steering when it cut off. I have had the thermostat water pump radiator N hoses and reservoir replaced. And the car still over heats there is a open recall on the car and the dealer hasn't informed me when I can bring it in to be serviced.

When driving 40 to 45 mph on a city street vehicle displays moderate overheat warning and within minutes displays high temperature overheat warning and goes into failsafe mode which make the car come to a halt. This could cause a dangerous situation in a busy highway. And air flow controller for the heating system doesn't blow hot air.

Both front headlamp assembly's have had to be replace three times due to the bulbs melting their bases - this includes melting of both turn signals bulbs. The cost to replace a single front headlamp assembly is $990, $1,980 for both, times three times.... this is unbelievable and is a big problem with BMW 3 series cars

I received notice of a potential airbag recall for my car. When I went to airbagrecall.com website and entered my car info. I was given 2 recalls (not the airbag) that were issues in October. (pvc valve heater; blower motor wiring) it has already been 3 months since the recalls were issues and when I called to schedule an appt to have them resolved. I was told parts would not be available for 2-6 months. I consider 5-9 months to get safety issues on my car resolved unreasonable. The manufacturer obviously knew about the problem before the recall was even issued. They have had ample time to identify the quantity needed and ramp up production!

Over time, the connection between the wiring and this system could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. BMW has instructed people with theses vehicles to avoid parking in their garage due to potential fire risks. PCV valve: This recall involves an engine component known as the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve heater. The PCV valve heater may not have been produced to specifications. Over time, it could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. Notification of recall occurred 10/25/2017, as of January 23, 2018. BMW still has no remedy or anticipated date for completing needed repairs.

When driving, the smell of burning or melting plastic is so strong, I have to roll down the windows. The smell occurs about 5 times a week and can be smelled both inside and outside the car. It occurs at various times...on the freeway, on surface streets, stopped at a red light etc. There is a safety recall, for positive crankcase ventilation(PCV) valve heater, but they don't have a plan or method of fixing this. Since it can lead to a fire, it needs to be fixed, but the dealership has no information about even how to fix the problem. The website and letter tells you to call the local dealership but they tell you to contact BMW North America, however they don't answer the phone. The service supervisor at the local BMW dealer ship in glendale ca has not returned my messages and the number they refer me to, BMW North America at 800.831.1117 just keeps ringing...no answer. I don't feel safe inhaling the plastic fumes and it could lead to my car catching on fire. BMW needs toanswer questions and provide customer service rather than referring me to advertisements to purchase a new BMW. (that is what happens on their "recall" website). I would like them to provide a car and keep my car at the dealership until they figure this out. I think they would find a solution very quickly if they had to provide alternator transportation. The blower on my BMW 328I stopped worked. Shortly thereafter, I received two initial safety recall notices 17V-683 (PCV valve heater) and 17V-676 (blower motor wiring). I took my car to BMW of sterling on 01/13/2018. I brought copies of the two safety notices with me and I provided them to the service agent. The service agent said there was no remedy available and they would replace the blower and charge me $505 for parts/labor. I said this was unacceptable and I asked to speak to a service manager. The service manager reiterated what the agent said. If in the future it was determined to be related, I would get my money refunded. I said this was unacceptable and I left. BMW knowingly let me leave with a safety issue. In my opinion this is detrimental reliance.

In December of 2016, my car started blowing a burning smell through the air vents, while I was driving through a neighborhood. I parked my car and turned it off in a median area and then I turned off the ac and white smoke started billowing out of the vents. It was electrical wires catching fire. I took my car to the mechanic and he said it was the blower motor and blower motor resistor that needing replacing. The wire connections deteriorated, melted, and overheated, catching fire. The cost of this replacement was $573.60 out of pocket. I checked a recall website and noticed that a safety recall for these parts were listed in October of 2017, with exact description of my problem that occurred in December 2016. I would appreciate a reimbursement on this repair as this recall should have been found much sooner.

The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. Approximately one year ago, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle shook. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle failed to start and was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a starter, valve cover, and ignition malfunction. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 117,000.

Takata recall the first complaint is that I am afraid to drive or allow anyone to drive a car with this airbag recall which has in some cases resulted in serious injuries or death. The car is thus parked in the garage while the dealer tells me they can't get the car in for repairs for 6 weeks at least which is unacceptable. Secondly, there are two additiona recalls that have no "fix" at this point which could also result in serious injury or death. I am at a loss for what to do with this vehicle. It is a hazard and completely useless for the purpose for which it was intended. The two additional recalls are both fire hazards and are not correctable at this juncture. This is unacceptable.

After a short drive I parked the car. I started to notice smoke coming from the vents. I checked under the hood but could not see any source. After closing the hood I got back in the car and then noted flames coming from just forward of the dash board. Within seconds the entire car was engulfed in flames. I am reporting this now because of the safety recall that I just heard about on this car.
