BMW recall dated 11/12/2013, NHTSA campaign number: 13V564000. Recall up to 76,565 units for failures of front seat occupant protection mat. Air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Contacted BMW and was told my VIN does not fall into BMW range but I've been experiencing the exact failure since yesterday when I was driving down my driveway at 3 -5 mph with no one in the passenger seat. I purchased the vehicle new 2007, currently has 83,000 miles on the vehicle. BMW has likely not identified the true VIN range of vehicles impacted by defective occupancy mats and refuses to pay for replacement and told me it was "customers cost" because my car was manufactured in Dec., 2006 and the recall only went through cars manufactured up till Sept. 30 2006 manufacture date. I think asked her if they put in a new part on the vehicles in December vs. September of 2006 and she said she didn't know. It would seem like a logical item to have in their customer service help tools instead of refusing to fix a critical safety defect in the vehicle. I said there are hundreds of people with the same problem posting it on the internet and BMW should take responsibility for what they manufactured which she really didn't care, I guess she doesn't care if my air bag deploys or not. I said to her you are going to have another class action suit after a few people die which she didn't really care.

Passenger seat detection mat not working. Seat has been relatively empty fpr years faulty product.. dangerous for a passenger when I have one. Air bag may not go off in an accident due to the faulty mat detection I feel BMW should be held accountable for this. They say my car is not covered due to they only cover certain VIN's for that year..

The contact owned a 2007 BMW 328I. After exiting the highway to make a right turn, there was a delay with the engine. The accelerator pedal was slow to respond and the vehicle suddenly independently surged forward at a high rate of speed and crashed into a pole. The vehicle veered to the right as the failure progressed. The contact noticed that the vehicle was still running at 22 mph. The contact had to turn the vehicle off, remove the key, and exit the vehicle due to the failure. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained pain to the right shoulder and two rear passengers sustained minor whiplash. Everyone required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop by the insurance company who was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13V564000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Passenger restraint system malfunction. Passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident due to faulty seat mat sensor. This could result in fatality to an adult passenger. Not covered under NHTSA campaign number: 13V564000 because it does not included same model/year vehicles with sport seats.

Passenger seat mat sensor has gone bad. This is the same type of recall as the takata recall but BMW says that this car isn't covered for that recall. Recall cost over $1000 to repair for a airbag safety issue. Seems to extremely common in BMW's. took car to BMW dealership and they confirmed the issue with the car. Spoke to bmwusa directly and they won't cover repair.

For two years my seatbelt sensor pad in the passengers side has been broken. The cost is $1400. I took it to the dealer only for them to say they don't see a recall on my car. I looked it up here and the same result. I research recalls on the 3 series 328xi on the internet and I see a seat sensor pad recall on some cars. What I don't understand is if it's the same sensor pad and/or same malfunction. Why is it only a fraction of the models" also it's unfair for you guys to make mistake with this information. By the time you have corrected the issue I will have died or paid for every defect out of my own pockets. Remember BMW is a business I am not. The new issues is something that I have never had happen in 20 years of driving. I hit an average size pothole and my suspension locked-up then later something snapped. It was the rear wheel drivers side. Its still in the shop but someone needs to look into the safety of all the vehicles and issue free repair or refund, asap. Also an issue with the fan but I a M running out of characters. To me it seems like most of the issue that you try to isolate by model are actual issues across all models and we need a solution. Better fix the issue now or later have someone's wheel come off on the highway. Or what if the air bag just never release" its your fault and BMW. You people sit on this information for years. They should be forced to come to my house and fix this [xxx]!!!! or write me a check!!!! information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

This is an addition to our previous recall problems as all electrical shut off as well. Here are the additional documents to be added to public record that indeed 6 recalls were recorded to our registered VIN and yet was told BMW had no obligation to adhere to these documents?! its also crazy that we have tons of documents and yet we are allowed to show a mbyte at a time. How convenient.

Front passenger seat occupant detection mat. My 2007 BMW 328xi airbag light came on so I took it to the dealer and they told me there was a recall on my model car from 2006 up, but that my VIN# is not part of that recall even though all symptom and issue was the same. I think this should be included as the sensor mat is the same issue as noted in this recall us NHTSA campaign id:13V564000

I am having the same problem that was reported in the NHTSA campaign number: 13V564000. However my VIN is not included with the recall. How can I have my car added to the recall list. I do not think that it is fair that BMW will not fix this for free considering it was reported but I was just unlucky with having my VIN included. The airbag light is on and as well as the yellow light on for the passenger side seatbelt. I purchased an airbag/SRS. The code came up as 93C3. I tried to clear the code however it wouldnt clear and I believe that is due to the issue not being fixed. I checked all of the cables under the seat for the airbag mat. Please help me with this issue! thank you

This inquiry is regarding NHTSA campaign number: 13V564000 and associated recall subject: Front seat occupant protection mat. Vehicle VIN# KP35910 was excluded from the recall despite meeting the qualification criteria for this recall. Malfunction of the passenger restraint system was diagnosed by BMW of seattle on 06/17/2013. Particularly BMW of seattle stated the following: "passenger seat occupancy detector connected battery charger and performed system test found sensor faulty. Seat occupancy sensor faulty. Evidence report of the issue diagnostic is attached to this email communication. Failed restraint system in the vehicle VIN# KP35910 inadvertently deactivated the front passenger air bag that now in the event of a crash increases the risk of personal injury. Manufacturer should take full responsibility in remedying this manufacturer's defect that pose great safety risk to vehicles occupants. Because vehicle VIN# KP35910 meets the recall criteria of other vehicles in the recall category and it exhibits exactly the same defects with the passenger restraint system that is subject of the recall, BMW northwest must include VIN# KP35910 into recall and repair the defective seat occupancy sensor.
