The contact's vehicle had five different electrical window failures. The windows could not be rolled up or down because the belt inside the window broke. The dealer repaired the windows. The manufacturer advised the contact to take vehicle to the dealer for repairs. They offered no free remedy.

We purchased our 2000 Lesabre as a program car with 12,000 miles. Beginning shortly thereafter three power widows went out. They were replaced at no charge. Now with 85,000 mile the fourth went out and it cost us $400 plus dollars. Of course they said it was out of warranty because of the mileage. We had over nine cars with power windows and never had to replace one, and now one vehicle all four had to be replaced. To me that tells me that there was a problem with the window motors. I could understand one going out, but all four?

The contact had the window regulator replaced three times. The first time was the right front window, the second time was the right rear window, and third time was the left rear window. The first two times they were replaced under warranty, the third time it was at the consumers expense. Also, was having a problem with windshield wiper blade post on both sides. While driving during a rain storm on the interstate, the windshield wiper on the driver's side stopped working and on the passenger's side it worked intermittently. The windshield wipers were repaired under warranty. Updated 11/16/05.

Car was bought brand new by my wife's parents who shortly thereafter died and we inherited car. Garage kept and hardly used. After we had it 1 year when my wife tried to put her passenger side window down it wouldn't go down. I thought the motor had gone bad and prepared to take it to the dealer. Before appointment I avoided using that window and one day tried to open the back driver's side window. It went down but made a noise and never was able to come up. I thought again it was just bad luck. The following Sunday I was at a store with another car and notice a car that looked exactly like our Buick with tape on it's rear window. I thought my wife had driven our Buick to the store. It wasn't our car so I waited for owner and questioned him about having problems with his windows. It was the second window that had broken on him. Further investigating on internet and with others aware of the car found that there are many with problem. I call Buick who said car was out of warranty but when I told them I had been to your website to file a complaint Buick said if I took it to dealer, and was willing to pay for a diagnosis they would determine whether they could help me. Turns out the car needs a regulator and motor cable and guide:L cost $400. Doesn't this seem like a manufacturer defect especially when they fix the problem with the same part and it goes bad too. Go to www.autobytel.com and looked at all the complaints on that website over this same issue. We opened the rear windows maybe a handful of times because the car had air conditioning and we usually used the air. Now 2 of the windows have problem. It is definitely a safety hazard if you can't open the window or can't close it. What if a child locks the doors while in the car with the keys and can't open car with handle. Buick's actions indicates that they know they have a problem. I called them with the diagnosis but Buick has not called back and impression is that they don't want to deal with it.

We purchased a new 2000 Buick lasabre from mike shaw Buick dealership, 1080 S. Colorado blvd., denver, co 80222 on 9-13-1999. April 2005 the passenger side front window regulator failed. Mike shaw dealership did the repairs. They did waive the labor for this, because we felt and still do, that this is a mechanical defect. Bill $310.35. Sept. 13, 2005, another window failed, same problem, only this was the rear driver's side window. Again we had the repairs made at mike shaw dealership, but this time they would not give us any satisfaction on this bill of $483.38. We feel that this is a mechanical defect. The exact same thing has happened on another Buick owned by our son. If needed I can forward copies of these invoices to you.

The electric windows mechanism fails resulting in replacement at $500 per window each time. All four window mechanisms have had to be replaced in a 2 yr. Period. Now the driver's side window works at times, and will not work at times. This will be the 5th window replacement. Ridiculous that there is no recall on these mechanisms. A friend has the same vehicle and he has had to replace his also.

For the 7th time since I have owned this vehicle, a window has fallen down into the door. This has been a recurring problem since I purchased the vehicle new in 2000. Up until now I have not had to pay for the repairs, but this one is going to cost $400. The dealer states the guarantee is only good for one year, so I may have to pay $1,600 a year to keep my windows in working order. I feel this is unreasonable and there should be a recall to permanently fix the problem.

The contact stated that the back driver's side window was faulty. She tried to roll the window up when she heard a clicking noise and the window would not go up or down. Dealer said the regulator needed to be replaced. Part was replaced at owners expense. Manufacturer filed a complaint for the contact, and told her to call NHTSA.

All four power windows will not work. From March through September of 2005 I they each quit working. The problems did not occur all at the same time. The consumer stated that the rear windows were rarely used; probably not more than six times. When the windows were inspected the mechanic told the consumer that the problem was with the regulators in the window motors. After taking the doors apart he found that the cables in each of the regulators snapped. Also, told the consumer that he had never seen a power window system set up like these were. They were unable to replace just the cables, but, had to replace the entire regulator in each window. The parts for the rear windows were only available through GM directly. The consumer felt that the cables in the regulators were defective.

Basically the same issue as the 71 other complaints. A few weeks ago the rear passenger window make a grinding noise, then fell halfway down. Now it doesn't work at all. Then last night the front passenger window did the same. Obviously a defect in the automatic window assembly. Almost no point in paying to get it fixed as it seems anyone that has had it fixed just have the same problems again.

Both front and rear driver's side power window motors have failed 3 days apart from one another, and needed replacement. Repairs to both windows have totaled $1000 combined. Old parts are available. Repairs were performed at a Cadillac dealership. Based on other performance reviews, I have seen a trend that this is occurring commonly on this vehicle, and repeated failure of this part is occurring with many owners.

The contact owns a 2000 Buick Lesabre. The contact had to replace three of the four power windows, and now the fourth window needed to be replaced. The windows had to be replaced within the last four years. The vehicle has been taking to the dealership while it was under warranty, but they could never duplicate the problem with the power windows and the regulator. Therefore, they would not correct the problem. This was on the driver's side window. The three window regulators had to be replaced out of pocket by the consumer the dealership would not help with the cost of repairs. This was an intermittent problem. When the problems first started the window would go up slowly and then it would go out.

Last year while driving there was a problem with the window. There was a popping sound first, and then the window fell down. The consumer called the dealership, who indicated that they could replace the whole window mechanism. There was a web made of plastic that holds the end of the cable and keeps window up. This piece of plastic failed. The consumer contacted the manufacturer, who advised the consumer to file a complaint. The consumer was concerned about children who could be in the back of the car and get cold when the window was down. The problem happened to the consumer again this weekend while driving at a shopping center, and hit a bump. Then heard a popping and then the window came down again. The consumer was going to repair it himself.

The rear driver side power window failed. There was a loud pop and the window slid half way down and would not go back up. I talked to my mechanic, and he said that it was a cable that broke. He knew instantly because he had replaced many of them in similar Buick Lesabre. We know of two friends personally who have had the same problem. For one friend, it happened on more than one window in her car. To get it fixed at the dealership cost nearly $500. It appears to us that this is a faulty part and that the auto maker should recall and repair it at their cost.

I own a 2000 Buick Lesabre. I continue to have problems with the windows. I am now in the process of replacing another window motor, this is the second one. I am unable to drive my car until repairs are made. Don't you think a recall should be made for these repairs as I have a relative that has the same vehicle and she has had the same problem. From reading other complaints, it appears that this is a problem with a lot of consumers. What can we do" I just replaced one, $400 charge now another one. As consumers we are requesting a recall for defective windows for all Buick. I did not keep the last old part, but will keep the next one, where do I send it"

My 2000 Buick lasabre has had three widow regulators fail. One under warranty, one I talked them into paying for the part, and now the third that they refuse obsorb any of the $400 cost. My wife has been stranded without an automobile for four days waiting on the part. I finally had to get an autobody shop to repair it (tomorrow 6/29/2005). Someone is now making an after market part that is half the cost, because they know the extent of the problem. I will never purchase another GM product.
