The window assemblies in my vehicle are defective. The service dept (who have been so nice to me as has the dealer -- bought my car there) admits that the plastic pulleys inside the window are defective and cause repeated break down of the window. I have had 6 window assemblies/regulators put on my car, 4 in front and 2 in back since I bought it new in 2000. At $400 a pop now that my car is out of warranty, this is getting ridiculous! the first one was put in at only 17,000 miles!

Despite extreme low mileage and use, 3 out of 4 power windows have stopped working and have needed costly repairs. I see other complaints about windows on this site and agree that depending on the circumstances, this could cause a dangerous situation. It's just plain poor quality too.

Power window assemblies have to be replaced because the cables become entangled and cause the power motor to fail. This has happened to the drivers front and back doors; and to the passenger's side front door. The window drops down and allows the outdoor elements (rain and snow) to ruin the interior of the vehicle. To my knowledge, the manufacturer has not come up with a solution for the problem.

Power window regulators are failing and the dealerships are ripping off our elderly citizens a $400/incident! these engineers must have got their degrees out of a cracker jack box! these regulators/motors are made as one unit, and repair is needed and would be easy. Of course this is how GM resorts to making money now. Last GM product I will ever buy!!! oh on my second in 2 months, christ!

LeSabre 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission

The electric windows of the vehicle would slide down, but would not slide up. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who informed the consumer that the electrical cable wound itself around the motor, burning the motor out. All of the windows are affected. The manufacturer nor the dealer is aware of the problem. Vehicle experienced four failures with power window equipment. One occurrence was while vehicle was parked the other three was when the vehicle was traveling between 35-40 mph. Vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the consumer was informed that the electrical cable wound itself around the motor thus burning the motor out.
