This will be the third time in three years that I have had to replace the air intake gasket. This is costing me a lot of money. What can I do? I really like this car and it still is not paid for yet.

We were quite upset when (at 51,509 miles) we noticed leaking fluid. Our local GMC dealer, informed us that we needed a new intake manifold gasket as well as new head gaskets. We asked if its common for them to see vehicles needing these type repairs at only 51,500 miles. They said it doesn't happen that often, but did say a vehicle was in recently for the same problem. However, that vehicle had 80,000 miles. When we asked if this would ever happen again after repairs were made, the Service Advisor told us the "new head gaskets" are much more durable than the old ones. Our question to General Motors, is "Does that mean the old factory installed intake & head gaskets that failed, were defective or inferior? This is little consolation to us after having to pay $1,674.28 in repair costs.

The service schedule is 5 years. And it's leaking just a few month past that especially considering the car was parked for a year in a mild weather. Bad quality!

This is my second GM car with the 3.4L V6 engine (stupid me). I recently traded both for Japanese Cars. So much for GM's conquest program. Both had leaking intake manifold gaskets that are expensive to repair. Both cars also had many other expensive repairs that GM knows about but won't own up to. I was nice and polite when I contacted them but they just don't care. And now, neither do I. By the way, I take good care of my cars and follow all maintenance schedules.

no wonder Toyota and Honda is taking over all GM sales.............this is nothing.....head gasket went bad again in less then two years.......I had to replace AC compressor/condenser, bearing motor, power windows and what not..........last i replaced my head gasket in aug. 2006 (both left and right) and it went bad again in June 2008.
