This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician that when scanning a vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes, may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes that apply to components that the vehicle is not equipped with, current in the radio. Technician may clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code but it will return. Technician should not replace the radio or any other components for this concern. Technician can ignore the Diagnostic Trouble Code that is set if the vehicle is not equipped with the component. Technician will follow published Service Information diagnostics if the Diagnostic Trouble Code is set for a module that the vehicle is equipped with.
