Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V383000 (air bags); however, the part was not available within a reasonable time frame. The contact waited more than two years. The dealer (ed bozarth Chevrolet, 5501 drexel rd, las vegas, nv 89130, (702) 967-5500) informed the contact that the part was not available; therefore, they were unable to service the vehicle. On September 3, 2017, while idling at a light with a green arrow to make a left turn, another vehicle drove through a red light and crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. None of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver was restrained by the seat belt as well as the two rear child passengers. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not inspected by the dealer to determine why the air bags failed to function. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The insurance company had the vehicle towed to a facility to repair the body damage; however, the air bag parts were not replaced. The failure mileage was not available. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Takara recall. To whom it may concern, I received a notice from GM two years ago identifying my vehicle as affected by the airbag recall and was also informed I would be notified when my local dealership would be able to make repairs. I have called my local dealership since receiving the notice and I am always told that there are no parts and I will be notified when repair is available. My complaint is that I have no idea when, if ever, GM plans to repair my vehicles airbags. I feel that GM is taking it's time in hope that affected vehicles age out and are no longer on the road. What are my options of having my vehicle repaired by GM?
