problem #314

Nov 291999

Blazer 4WD

  • miles
Approaching an intersection, applied brakes, felt a little pressure, then pedal went to the floor. This happened about three months ago, and I was aware that GM was also aware, but when I talked to the dealer, he said that he could do no work unless there was a recall notice, even though this was a safety problem. I find it hard to believe that we would have to wait for a piece of paper even though they already knew someone could be hurt. We were lucky, but I'm not waiting.

problem #313

Jun 171998

Blazer

Ongoing / intermittent problem with ABS system; whenever brake pedal is applied a grabbing / grinding noise would appear, and pedal would go to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance before coming to a stop. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that no recall on ABS. Can NHTSA share some light on this matter; your web site shows a possible recall, but dealer / manufacturer are both denying a recall. Recall 99V-193000.

Tried to apply brakes. Strong smell of electrical type overheating evident under hood. This problem occured 2 times before the car could be taken off the road. I have never had any car's brakes fail in this manner.

problem #301

Aug 201999

Blazer 4WD

  • miles
Under braking, almost full pedal travel is necessary to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal feels very "mussy" and stopping distance is extended significantly. On several occasions, accidents have been barely avoided. We contacted Chevrolet and were that no recall is currently in effect although there exists a NHTSA campaign id number 99V193000 which describes this problem. We want this issue solved before a serious accident occurs. Currently we avoid using this vehicle as much as possible.
