The engine loses power while driving. I almost hit the vehicle in front of me because I could not stop the car. The vacuum to the brakes is lost. The RPM changes rapidly and the engine sputters. I called Chevrolet's customer service center and they had no knowledge of this problem for this make/model. I took the car to the dealership after just bringing in the repair for a recall notice for the ABS brake system transfer case switch and vacuum switch repair and they hooked up a computer to the code reader slot and saw that there was problems with the egr valve. The technician gunned the engine a few to times claiming that he was clearing the valve of a piece of stuck carbon. It went away at the dealership but the problem showed up on the road 5 minutes later. They claim that they have seen this problem in numerous S10 Chevrolet Blazer and they recommend replacing the part. I claim that this is a danger to all 1995 S10 Blazer owners and the part should be re-designed to prevent this from occurring if they have so many issues with it. The part by the way cost around $300~400 in the chicagoland area.

You have numerous complaints on the 1995 Chevrolet Blazer...then why doesnt something be done about this vehicle....? I have been stranded 4 times with my children in the car....3 for the egr valve.. and now it just cranks and wont start....I have had this car for 14 months and this first started in June 1999 3 months after purchasing this car......look at all the complaints......a mechanic stated the egr valve is at a 45degree angle and should be at 90 degree angle so it does not clog.....I am in the process of filing a lawsuit against Chevrolet on this vehicle and everyone else should do the same.......it is just an overpriced piece of crap........1 that you cannot count on taking you to town... which is bad......

This problem has occured twice on this vehicle and results in the complete loss of all engine oil and an immediate loss of power. Each time it happens it is only by the grace of god my family and I narrowly escape a serious accident. I would imagine numberous people have had this problem probably resulting in engine freeze-up and more potential damage not to metion oil slicks on the roadways.

The NHTSA mandated that GM waranty the legr on 1995 Blazer. When my Blazer experienced this problem, I took it into the dealer to have the legr replaced. I was told they couldn't replace the parts under waranty because the NHTSA only mandated the warranty for cars with less than 75,000 miles. My Blazer had the problem at 80,000 miles. The mileage dictation is ridiculous! this failure is a safety hazard at any mileage and should be repaired regardless!

Have had major engine problems since first year of ownership. Had to replace battery 3 times (first time within first year), have been stranded because of a "no-start" problem 6 times since purchase, dealer and two other mechanics cannot find cause, brakes have a very poor performance and must be replaced frequently, fuel pump replaced, ignition replaced, now the engine has "blown" all on a vehicle that has been properly maintained and not abused. This is the most unreliable, costly, stress-cuasing vehicle I have ever owned and I would like Chevrolet to take some responsibility for a very poorly built (lemon) car.

Vehicle will stall when braking hard if fuel tank has less than 1/4 tank of gas. Originally reported to dealer while vehicle still under warranty, dealer said this was 'normal' for this vehicle. The dealer explained that when the fuel tank is low it is possible for the fuel pump to go 'dry' under certain braking conditions causing the engine to be starved of fuel thereby stalling the engine. To date vehicle has stalled a total of five times under these circumstances, I do not feel that it is 'normal' for a vehicle to stall when there is fuel left in the tank. The incident reported here almost caused an accident, I was braking and making a right turn at the time, when the engine stalled I lost power steering and power brakes, this made the vehicle almost impossible to control in the turn. Fortunately the vehicle behind me was able to maneuver around my stalled vehicle.

Consumer was pulling boat or load, the carbon broke loose from engine, creating a vacum leak which got into the egr valve, sending false message through check engine light. Also it threw the brakes out. Dealership replaced the egr valve on July 10-98. Afterwards, it five happened five other times.
